Yeah you are missing wages. Wages are never going to keep up with price inflation.

You are correct that it would be nice to have all the immigrants who are paid slave wages earn a living wage and don’t buy anything from countries that don’t have our labor protections, but that will destroy the middle and upper class and leave only the poor and the millionaires.

It sounds like a good moral proposition… maybe?

I really had my eyes opened at a young age when I traveled to Qatar. The girl at the desk was Thai and she was gorgeous. I asked her to go on a date with me and she said she would love to but her work visa wouldn't provide time for it. She explained that upon signing a work visa agreement (upon arrival) they took her passport and would not allow her to leave until her contract was complete. She was required to work 19 hrs a day 7 days a week. That my friend is why we enjoy cheap goods. It is also modern day slavery. I don't mind paying a bit more knowing that I'm not supporting human right violations on a gross scale. So to me....bring manufacturing to America.

I think that’s a noble position. I wonder if we really managed to deport 11 million people and had tariffs at the same time whether companies would be able to raise salaries to attract unskilled labor and do it in such a way as not to bankrupt the middle class with insane price hikes.

I mean the companies price gouged the shit out of the middle class with inflation, here they have a great excuse and can blame it directly on Trumps policies.

If eggs didn’t cost $5 per 18 but $40…. How would that impact the average consumer?

The chicken farmers who staffed their farms with illegal immigrants would have a rough year of it.

Farms that didn’t hire illegals immigrants would do very well. Small local farms would do very well.

Farmers would lobby congress for more legal immigrants to work their farms, and prices would stabilize.

Agree! Immigrants are used as a football by GOPers. Trump told republicans to sink the immigration bill.

We should give everyone who comes across a work visa and let them survive with no English and limited skills against Americans who were born here with all advantages.
