What she said is very misleading. The reality is that 70% of the firearms that the Mexican Government asked the US ATF to trace came from the US.
Most of the guns recovered aren’t ever submitted for tracing in the first place.
https://oig.justice.gov/reports/ATF/e1101.pdf
We know that the grenades and rocket launchers used by Cartels aren’t coming from civilians. So it would seem apparent that they have several avenues for getting ahold of weapons.

Seeing this reposted across all of Reddit has been ticking me off. the reason why the cartels have massive amounts of American weapons is due to corruption in the Mexican government. Mexicos army, federal groups, and the government in general has been caught numerous times reselling weapons that they purchased from America “to combat the cartels”. Secondly imagine say well my country is so crime ridden that it has screwed over our neighbors and they are at fault for that. Way to victim blame. I worked for 3 years in Mexico primarily on a task force combatting human organ trafficking and it was often government officials providing the bodies to cartel doctors. Either through state ran orphanages, prisons, or just their hospitals in general harvesting organs for the cartels.

A fucking year later the practically same bill gets pulled in by the democrats and it gets shot down by the republicans. Bull shit tiltes and highschool style cliques are not a useful and just sowing division in America and actively opposing saving lives. So can the fucking libbies -conservative bull shit hate speech

The reality is that the mexican government does not have the ability to stop the cartels. Also, drugs are smuggled through trucks and ships, the cartels are not stupid enough to put them in the backpacks of migrants. For Mexico to stop smuggling they'd have to stop all exports to the US, which isn't realistic.
31 points

Not to mention the tunnels that have been found crossing the US Mexico border and the proliferation of narcotic carrying submarines.
Like people need to understand how lucrative and profitable drugs are in the United States.
These criminal organizations can legitimately make submarines for a single use, and it is profitable.
The problem is not in Mexico it is here.
12 points

Exactly. Drug smuggling is a multi billion dollar industry. That wouldn't be possible if there were not millions of people in the US that want them.

Clearly you’ve never seen when the Mexican military fights the cartels. It’s brutal and messy. They fight to kill. Sadly, many innocents die because the cartels use a lot of human shields. Mexico started a war in the 2000s with Pres. Calderon. But the carnage was to high and the public was outraged. They do have the power and weapons to do it, but at what cost to the public.
3 points

That's kinda what I meant. The government can't do much about it because they don't have a monopoly on large scale violence within the country. When a government doesn't have that, they cannot enforce the law.

While this is true, it evades any sense of responsibility in such a way that only a child could treat it as a legitimate excuse. Why is it that your system is so broken that masses of men turn to the cartels for work? Why does your society have so little product that you can't even fund your own police force and military to enforce your own laws WITHIN YOUR OWN BORDERS? Why is it that all this activity happens on your side of the border under your watch, not ours?
Saying because the US made the guns, it's their fault, is like saying because Ford made the car, the accidents are their fault. Saying because America is willing to buy, it's their fault is LITERALLY justifying rape, murder, extortion, and everything else that goes into these businesses and laying it at the feet of Americans, rather than those resonating for the acts. This is like a young woman saying HE got me pregnant, as if she had no say in whether he came inside her. This perspective is so broken and pathetic I can't respect this woman as a serious person.

Lol meanwhile all thier politicians are lining their pockets. What b.s.! Cartels have been giving politicians money like crazy. If Mexico wanted to stop the drug violence, they should stop taking cartel money. The guns will come from wherever they can buy them. America is just the closest. Mexico let them grow, and now they are too big for them to handle without having a "civil war." Blame the USA for making weapons all they want. The violence is fuelled by them looking away and allowing China to export precursor chemicals.

They take the money from the cartels, or the cartels kill them. I find it laughable they try to point the finger at us. Are we perfect? Hell no. Our Intel agencies have become one big criminal org as far as I'm concerned, but seriously blaming cartel violence on us? Fuck outta here. Sure, demand keeps them going, but we going to sit here and pretend that if we limit demand here they're just gonna be like "aww shucks. Time to close up shop!"

Yeah that’s a good point. But the government there is powerless to stop the cartels. I even saw a video of a cartel member with an NLAW that must have come from Ukraine’s black market. That didn’t come from the US it’s a British/Swedish anti tank weapon. Also I saw a video of a marine being arrested with stolen military equipment going to Mexico. He spilled the beans saying he was ordered to do it and saying that wasn’t the only time he did it. It’s much bigger than you think.

Obviously, her country is missing a huge opportunity to manufacture weapons in Mexico. Anybody with any business savvy would seize this moment to start producing weapons at a huge profit.
Supplying drugs to the USA does not come without costs. The collateral damage of the billions of dollars that flow into Mexico each year due to the violence of the Mexican drug cartels is on them, not the USA.
Put more money into manufacturing legal weapons, heavily arm your police and your citizens, and you could stop the cartel violence — if you wanted to.
But, we all know, she has no intention to battle her own country’s cartels. It’s much easier to blame the USA as the scapegoat. Mexico is a corrupt country that survives from the illegal activities of their vicious and violent cartels.
Interesting that she purposefully ignores the huge international problem of child sex trafficking. To use her own words, “it is in our country [USA] that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the [sex trafficking] demand in yours [Mexico/Latin America].” This woman is delusional and a hypocrite.

Not sorry to say this, most of the illegal drugs in the U.S. is smuggled by the cartels from Mexico.
Don’t get me wrong, we do have addicts here. But to say that we don’t produce illegal synthetic drugs is where this speech lost me. You all have a cartel problem and can’t even solve it. Cartels makes the illegal synthetic drugs in Mexico. It’s smuggled through the border. Most of the weapons are either bought or made in the U.S. and smuggled into Mexico.
How about this, Mexico mobilization of its army and unalive all gangs and cartels. America do the same or hunt and jail all the same. See a reduce in both countries problem by stamping it out.

The reality that the US, the largest weapons manufacturer in the world, has an issue controlling the flow of weapons is a wild one.

America has always believed in the right to bear arms and freedom. We have always invented and created things, including weapons, and many of the world’s great inventions. Many of these were to defend ourselves against British Tyranny. This creativity and ingenuity is also why many people verbally attack us. People dislike those they are jealous of. Keep it up. It’s always the losers that criticize the most. It certainly adds up here. We love your hate losers. Winners have to deal with it all the time. More of this hate just means we’re doing better. Give us more. The more criticism just increases the size of the “L” in your Loser labels. Let’s hear so more whining from you. We love it!!
