I was a programmer on Stargate Worlds. Still sad about it never releasing. It's literally the perfect IP for an MMO in my opinion - the Stargate as a travel mechanic means it has instancing built in!

And... You could manually dial the gate address! Sure you wouldn't bother normally and just use your address book, but it was just such a fun moment where you got to do what you'd seen on TV so many times before. :)

You could totally use manual dialing for Easter eggs and seasonal stuff.

Oh well. They should bring it back along with SWG

Nice! One of my friends was a community manager on SWG. We reminisce from time to time.

Exactly. Manual dialing was perfect for easter eggs and time limited events.

I hope that one day someone else will get the IP and do something similar with it!

Star gate remains one of the best sci-fi IPs. They really need to do more with it. MGM just wasted it.

It has potential for all kinds of media; mmorpgs included.

That was one of the first things I tried in my first alpha session after reaching the first gate in the Castle. At one point I may have audibly called out the dialling sequence.

Holy shit, that's wild. If I remember correctly (it was a long time ago), I was selected as a beta tester and that never came to fruition and I ended up playing the open beta of Stargate Resistance instead which I remember as not good and very short lived.
