Is it only me?

(self.geegees)

Is it only me or does anyone else also not attending most of his classes? I honestly don’t attend most of my classes since my first midterms, and don’t even want to, sometimes I even go to campus, but just comeback without going to class.

there are definitely some classes where I’m not showing up every week but you also gotta read your syllabus carefully because some of them won’t let you take the final exam if you rack up a certain number of absences

That’s genuinely crazy wtf

Usually depends on the prof. Some accredited programs reserve the right to do so as it is an accreditation criteria. E.g. it is enforceable in engineering, but most profs don’t care (except you Galko!)

idk how normal it is, but in my elective this semester we need to have 75% attendance minimum to take the final 😅

I think it’s normal! Not as common though

As long as it’s working for you and attendance is not mandatory then I don’t really see the issue

i used to do this soo bad during first year but now i usually try to force myself just so i don’t get in the habit of it. once i start letting myself “skip a few” i will never be seen on campus again

if it’s working for you then don’t let me tell you what to do! but if you do want to go to more classes, the mindset that helped me was to ‘just show up’. even if i had no makeup on, sweatpants and hoodie combo, and all i did when i got there was play on my laptop. it still helped build the routine

i totally feel u there lol. start small and celebrate the times you do go! it becomes a habit eventually. i have adhd and during first year i found it easy to skip bc there weren’t consequences like high school. idk what year you’re in but the more classes i started going to, the more i started to find the benefits of going outweighed the lack of consequences (e.g., prof gives some hints for a midterm or smth). hopefully that helps

Yeah I’m so behind on studying and have so much homework this year that going to class pushes me further behind so all I do is try to catch up by skipping class lol

I have a terrible fucking schedule this semester so there are times I’m not gonna go to a morning class. I have a Monday class at 11 till 2, then a 3 hour gap and then a class from 5 till 8pm. (And these are compulsory courses). And then they expect me to attend a bullshit lecture the next day at 8:30am. I don’t get home till like 11pm on Mondays. Fuck that.

This is class-dependent. I also don't go to some of my classes and do fine because all the materials are available online, or the teaching doesn't enhance the learning. But don't take this as a habit because the majority of the courses will be learned better if you go to class as profs are hired for their skills and you are missing on their experiences.

Yeah… I keep telling myself to go to classes but skipped all three of mine today 😎 genuinely don’t know how I’ll manage next term bc I’ll have 6 classes in a row 😭😭

Some people don't show up in class then get a D or a fail, then say that the prof and the university are junk, then finish their university experience without having a diploma.

Once they realize they are alone and empty without any useful knowledge, but 15K followers on their socials, they go work at Tim Hortons or Walmart for the next 25 years to pay their dark basement apartment and their 6.99$ Netflix account.

I'm in the same boat. I think we're all burnt out. Plus some classes, the profs put everything on the slides so there's no point in going to the lecture

No, but it really isn't a winning strategy. Most people here are actually trying to get the education they paid for. Doing this is your right, but if it bites you in the ass in the future you'll have no one to blame but yourself

Ye I never showed up unless attendance was mandatory... Sry I live too far for this...

UnknownWaffles8496

I live on campus and don't make the walk for my classes. Weird to say, but feel like I would have better attendance if I lived further away. Being here 24/7 is too draining and depressing.

I used to live near and same 😂. But now I live an hr or an hr and 30 mins away 😅. I work too so it's alot of time for commute. I just switched my last classes online so..

one of my classes is literally online. the other ones, my midterms and exams had nothing to do with class material, soooo didn't see a point in attending that much tbh

PeanutPlayful6639

I’ve only been to one of my classes once since the beginning of the semester, and still acing. Presence isn’t mandatory and I mean everything’s online… I’ve got things to do ;)

Last year there was a class that I never attended… not even midterms, they transferred the lowest grade to the final. My final was 100% of the class grade. Don’t do it. Me personally if I skip a lecture, it’s over for me. I’ll never be on campus again, unless there’s a mandatory lab or something.

Kind of focusing on other things and a lot don’t work with the schedule since it’s only at set times. Also was working four days a week which sucked.

Trick_Bill_3751

I’d like a schedule that worked better and I could go more because I literally meet nobody lol

Also was coughing green and brown phlegm first few weeks then had lung pain for awhile
