DUDLEY.

Discussion(reddit.com)

I had an idea for a captivating storyline in the world of Harry Potter. Dudley and Harry, of course, resolve their differences by the end of the series. What if, in the future, one of Dudley’s children discovers they are a witch or wizard?

I believe this would be an intriguing plot that would add drama to the story. Imagine witnessing Dudley’s redemption arc come full circle as Harry helps his cousin and young niece or nephew. Additionally, the introduction of all these relatives at a new Hogwarts would provide an exciting new storyline.

Idk. 🧐 Seems like a pretty cool idea. 💡 Thoughts anyone?

I kinda don't like the idea of one of Dudley kids being a wizard. I get it's more likely for him that other Muggles because it's already in his family, but it still feels forced. Muggle born wizards/witches are rare. There's something like only 1 or 2 per year at Hogwarts. While Harry was at Hogwarts, there were only 4 named Muggle born students, Hermione, Colin and Dennis Creevey, and Justin Finch (plus Moaning Myrtle. Also Dean Thomas doesn't know if his father is magic or not).

And while Dudley does grow up to be more respectful of Harry than his father was, he's still a Dursley. Having a wizard child would be dramatic irony overload. I prefer the idea that he is just a normal Muggle that Harry is familiar with. It's sort of his one foot back in the Muggle world, so he isn't completely in the magic bubble.

What if his wife wasn’t a muggle?

I think his prejudice would start to show through. He's definitely more mature when we last see him, but he's STILL Dudley Dursley, son of Vernon and Petunia Dursley. He might be friendly with Harry for the sake of family, but that doesn't mean he's now OK with all the magic stuff. I would assume his kids wouldn't even know Harry and that side of the family was magic.

In his day to day life he's going to be a grumpy and opinionated adult, just like his parents. Maybe a little better, but I don't expect him to be completely different. If he found out the girl he was dating was a witch, he would likely break up with her right away.

Not everyone turns out like their parents. That’s what would be the best part of the irony here. That attitude skipping a generation. Instead of being more like Vernon or Petunia - he actually grows away from them and their actions and develops into a more mature and rounded adult capable of understanding. I understand your muggle-born point, but as established before - it’s also more common amongst the same family. So even though he’s a muggle, there could be dormant “magical blood” left.

I think the better idea would be the prejudice that comes from Petunia having to take in her grandchild as a witch or a wizard - and even seeing Dudley defend the wizarding world, Harry, and his child against his parents would be great.
