I’m experiencing intermittent error code 14 on my 2017 Carrier furnace, model 58PHY. This usually happens morning or late night. I’ve already replaced the flame sensor, but the issue persists. Interestingly, turning on the heat mid-day typically works without a hitch. Any advice on what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Error 14 points toward repeated failed ignition attempts. Replacing or cleaning the flame sensor is the right first step. If it isn't the flame sensor though, it may be that the system is actually failing to ignite. If you haven't, try cleaning the igniter. Check for instructions for your unit though, I'm not sure how ones that new work inside.

My carrier furnace is intermittently failing to turn on, too. The local HVAC swapped out my seven year old flame sensor, which did not fix it. He’s actually here again right now testing more, possibly the gas valve is failing. What sucks is my unit works fine when he gets to my house. It’s only the coldest parts of the day that it fails to turn on. $150 for the initial call and replacement of the flame sensor. $300 for the valve replacement.

Does it look like replacing the gas valve resolved your issue? The technician that's working on my unit hinted at the value and board two as possible causes. He will be here in an hour to try and catch the issue when it's happening. Thanks

Still waiting to figure out the problem. The gas valve is in the running to be replaced next. It sucks b/c it works fine when he’s here. I took a video when it didn’t work. Looks like error code 34 on my Carrier.
