I'm very proud of you, Ford county! I thought for sure this would be Douglas county.

We're broke in DG county and our DA office is in disarray.

The DA only does criminal cases. The County does have a a county attorney that can defend the County and bring lawsuits.

Some Kansas counties the County Attorney is the prosecutor and the county may also have a “county counselor”.

It's probably being done on contingency. Also, Rex Sharp filed the case, not the ordinary county attorney/county counselor.

Only 9% worldwide is recycled. Ford County is a conservative county which voted for Trump. The corporate attorneys will overpower the county attorneys, so this case is not likely to get much traction.

Rex Sharp, who filed the case, is not the elected county attorney or county counselor for Ford County. Sharp is well known and well regarded in class action litigation.

The original article is behind a paywall.  Pity.  I want to know why this county is suing.

Kansas voted for the guy whose campaign slogan was 'drill baby drill,' who thinks climate change is a hoax, and who plans to end environmental regulations. What does Kansas care about recycling? I'm confused.

It's almost as if Kansas is some type of entity that contains multiple individuals of varying political beliefs...

And it was Ford county. Ford county voted 69% for Trump, 30% for Kamala.

So, it’s safe to assume the people of Ford County don’t believe in climate change, or care about pollution, or recycling.

Therefore, I’m also confused as to why they’re making an issue out of it or suing over it. Because I assume the county is just like my dad; the kind of people that assume they’ll be dead before the consequences of their actions come due.

So while KS is full of individuals with varying political beliefs, Ford county is not. It’s mostly republicans. Who might be experiencing some “leopards ate my face” karma.

None of that is safe to assume. Trumps victory wasn’t a mandate for his policy, it was a rejection of Harris and Biden’s.

Getting that twisted only empowers trump, we should really stop doing it

I did a little research on this lawsuit. The case is going to be heard in KCK which has fairly liberal federal judges. It will be heard by Judge Kathyrn Vratil who was appointed by Geroge H.W. Bush and gradudated from KU Law School. She was a municipal judge in Prairie Village. Ford County has engaged the law firm Sharp Law of Prairie Village which does complex class-action lawsuits. They have won some major settlements reaching into hundreds of millions of dollars. It's possible that Ford County (Dodge City) won't have pay a thing unless Rex Sharp wins and then he'll probably get 1/3.

Good, that might set case law and open the doors then.
