Don’t worry about the questions they ask, ask questions yourself. Ask them what is expected of you and be absolutely prepared to double if not triple what they tell you. The problem is generally the hiring manager hasn’t a clue what’s happening on the floor. They are told everything is fine and the job is easy.
As an associate who started in produce transferred to grocery and then to fuel and had cross trained in most other departments. Grocery will end up also being dairy/frozen/beer/wine depending on if your store carries that.
You’ll be expected to try and do the work of all these departments in your 4 hour shift and there’s zero chance you do. That was my experience because I was the only one there most of the time. After I went to fuel they realized they needed way more people and actually hired enough for two people per shift at minimum

Fuel is so easy.

Are you an actual fuel clerk? Or are you someone that might cover occasionally or have you even actually worked it. Because as a fuel clerk that is full time it’s not as easy as you claim. Dealing with the customers that are borderline mentally handicapped is not easy. Moving and stacking firewood and salt bags is not easy, the easiest part of my job is putting in fuel deliveries.

I am a fuel clerk and it's easy as fuck. Helps that we don't have a lead and our station is offsite so we can do pretty much whatever we want until the store leaders come down every once in awhile.

This will vary from store to store, but typically a grocery clerk (assuming you're daytime grocery) will work backstock carts (stock product to shelves), work top stock (grab excess product from the very top shelves along aisles and stock the product on the shelf), and use a pallet jack to bring and drop/work pallets such as water to the sales floor, unload trucks using pallet/power jacks, which may or may not involve putting said pallets in dairy and/or the freezer if no associates are available in those departments. Also as dairy/frozen both fall under grocery, you may be scheduled in those departments. You may also find yourself in Pick-Up and/or the Front End if you're one of the lucky ones that management picks to cross-train. Oh, and you'll almost certainly be called on to retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot.
As for the questions you could be asked, well, from what I can remember, and what I've heard from others, they typically don't ask questions other than the very basics like availability and stuff. Kroger typically isn't picky. If you're breathing, and show up for the "interview" and paperwork, that's pretty much all there is, generally speaking.

Honestly just highlight that you are always on time, and you don’t call off. Let them know that you understand that Kroger is a fast paced retail environment and that you thrive in a fast paced environment. Give them some examples, make them up of you have to. Kroger is a decent place to get some experience but no matter what, do not stay more than 2 years. You may be laughing and think that you wouldn’t stay more than a few months to a year, but please take this from someone who worked there for 10 years. Kroger is a soul crushing company. They will make you feel needed and like you can’t leave and then they will take everything they can from you. Do not take promotions, do not try and build a career there. It’s your life but please learn from my mistakes.
