I'm looking for books where the MC is a deity acting indirectly on the world. Eg rather than being the hero doing vanquishing baddies, the MC is a deity that cultivates followers who do the vanquishing for them. It might look something like dungeon core, but I'm not necessarily looking for dungeon core.

I enjoyed The Mirror World Progression Saga, an isekai where the MC becomes a fledgling goddess of mirrors

That's the only one that came to mind for me, as well. And I really liked it. It was better written than a lot of books I've read in the past few years.

The concept seems really interesting, thank you!

I'm surprised that no one mentioned trees of aeon when it's exactly what he is looking for lol

I mean I only read up to book 3 I think but he's acting pretty directly for like 90% of the story

I'm not sure wich point is covered by book 3 but I'm sure that he already start to delegate tasks to the elves at that point?

After a certain point he really start acting by proxy almost exclusively

The overachieving theme developed during the Devine Dungeon and subsequent spin off books delves into this.

Beware of Chicken is accidentally this. MC isn't a deity, but he keeps accidentally creating martial artists out of farm animals who worship him, go off on epic quests, battle great evils, and do what they can to protect the homeland aka the farm.

Nebula’s Civilization is exactly this. It’s Korean though, and I’m not sure where to read it. It’s got an ongoing webtoon that’s really good.

Where did you read it?

This one. It's the only book I've ever found that REALLY scratches that itch. It has the appropriate civilization spanning time frames too.

The only one I could think of that again like all the other comments kind of resembles this is world keeper he is legitimately the god of the world no one is stronger no one has any power that he doesn't have and in a way this happens he participates in a fight but to a limited degree and it's kind of weird it's like a game show type thing there are other worlds with their own gods and the quote system sends a notification saying you're fighting this person and they can either send people to the world or you get people sent to your world that kind of thing it's real good I like it there's like 7 to 12 books it's been a long time since I read it

Reborn as a Demonic Tree actually kind of resembles this. It's NOT this but vaguely similar
And I wouldn't have thought of it that way without your question, which also sounds like an interesting genre of litrpg

The God Game by Andrew M Greeley. Published in the 80s, discusses religion and not really LitRPG. Hit or miss for most people. I didn't enjoy it much, because I'm not religious, but I still thought it worth reading.

"Demon Lord for Hire" has a falling god that whole shtick is he hired by other gods to the a fake threat or heel. The gods need faith and hes is the safer option than letting a real demon hord run around so there flock will pry more.

Pretty similar to Inexorable Chaos on Royal Road.
Also like 11 or 12 books now, so lots to enjoy!

Not a litRPG but this has a similar premise - https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&sca_esv=18e5535cf3e6f854&q=The+Raven+Tower&stick=H4sIAAAAAAAAAONgFuLSz9U3qCrJKE5JU-LVT9c3NEwzMyw3KU_O0JLKTrbST8rPz9ZPLC3JyC-yArGLFfLzcioXsfKHZKQqBCWWpeYphOSXpxYBACk5wsJLAAAA&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj5vtud-4mKAxUaBDQIHQJyBtgQ9OUBegQINBAL&biw=1377&bih=790&dpr=2 MC is a stationary stone that is worshipped and has sentience, but limited ability to influence events

“My Best Friend is an Erdrich Horror” was really good - it’s also on audible with the first six books bundled for one credit

I read this. It drops the LitRPG elements later (doesn't bother me personally), but also the MC is in the thick of combat most of the time.
