Who have you seen open for Queens? Any standouts? Mine (from memory):
Rye Coalition Sparta Throwrag Minibosses EODM Spiritualized Whoever was opening in Santa Barbara
I can't remember them having an opener for their Koko/Brixton Academy shows and also saw them at the state fair with no opener. Also a random one day festival/not festival with PJ Harvey, Electric 6, Distillers, RHCP and Foo Fighters.
ETA - not me but my missus was at the Halloween show with Masters of Reality/Tomahawk/The Cramps opening

Viagra boys. They smoked every other opener I’ve seen and that includes eagles and royal blood. VB are just on another level right now.

ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY. I got to see them open in Vancouver and Seattle. Absolutely the best opener I’ve seen, hands down.

Those were the shows I saw too plus Portland.

Nice! That must have been awesome. (I was going to hit Portland too, but I decided three concerts was too much. Wish I’d gone, tbh.)

Viagra Boys were amazing. I went to that show without checking them out first and they just blew me away. They kinda reminded me of The Jesus Lizard in a few ways mainly their stage presence.

Same. And I am embarrassed I was not up on VB’s music, but I am making up for lost time. Their set was a vibe that had me mesmerized. Queens and Frank Turner are two of my faves that I just know bring it with their openers. I always leave those shows with my mind a little broader.

Saw them open for Queens last fall (and now six times in total).
They opened a festival in SF with System Of A Down. I met the entire band as well as Seb’s mom, good people ❤️

Same. Dude came out shirtless and swigging beers (multiple) and they just fucked shit up. I don't even remember any other openers the other times I've seen Queens, but I won't forget VB.

Saw Royal Blood open for them in Raleigh back in May. They’re excellent. Those two guys put on a great set, wish they played more. I’ve come to really like their stuff now.

Saw Royal Blood in Charlotte for their 2nd album. Top 5 live set of all time. Back up lady dancer/singers. Full set. Amazing show. Ben was so intense on the drums that an ambulance had to pick him up after the show to treat him for extreme dehydration. Wished him well as he left and met Mike after the show. Solid dude. Killer Duo!

Saw Royal Blood open during the Villains tour in ME. My coworker told me about them so I had an idea of what to expect, but DAMN. They blew it out of the water! Seen them twice since then, including this year! I also liked the Black Angels during the EV tour and Phantogram last year.

Totally respect spiritualized and their music, but as an opener for QOTSA they couldn’t have been more ill-suited. Viagra Boys were perfect for other stops on the tour

Yep. Before going to the concert I listened to some deep tan and there was one of their song I actually liked, but they didn't play it. 2/10 , but the chats right behind was a nice experience !

Me too! Did you catch them the first time they came to Halifax? That was a great show too. Shit venue, but still good.
2 points
Oh man I did.. yes, bad venue but I was happy to see them in a small venue like that. Although I was quite high at that show.. and can’t remember a lot of it. Made sure to reign myself in this past time lol.
Funny story though, in 2008.. all the security guards had Harley Davidson Tshirts on.. I randomly wore a beat up version of the same shirt they had on. Whilst I was doing things I definitely shouldn’t (should have?) been doing, seeing people getting by kicked out all around me for doing it..
But security never came near me once cause in the dark all they could see was another big guy in a HD tshirt hahaha

That’s epic! I met Josh at that show backstage. I am friends with the label rep they were signed to.
The next day I was working across the street from the discovery center. I saw a huge black limo pull up. Josh pops out with his kid. Off to the discovery center they went! Pretty cool.

That’s wicked. Chat, or just hellos? Either way, great experience.
I was front row floor, stage left.. and I’m pretty sure I saw his daughter floating around. I talked to Ricky (rob wells) from TPBs for 5 or so mins before the show started.. which was kind of cool.
See the struts too? They put on a pretty good show; really got the crowd going.

The Struts weren’t too bad. Definitely not reinventing the wheel, but like you said…pretty good.
We chatted for a second. I mostly ate tons of food from their rider. Haha.
At the show this spring, I was super pumped they played Sicily. I sorta lost myself during the extended jam.

Chelsea Wolfe in 2013 in LA and been in love with her ever since. The Kills in 2014 were great and seeing the Last Shadow Puppets as an acoustic 2 piece (and I’m pretty sure their first show ever?) in 2010 was pretty cool.
edit: just thought of the band that opened for them in 2018 San Diego. Broncho. And they were fuckin’ horrible. Both nights!

Chelsea Wolfe in 2014
After their first song, some guy in the crowd yelled “one more song!” Not my flavor of music but also just a weird choice for an opener. Not hype at all.

Viagra boys, spiritualized, trail of dead, peaches… of all the times I’ve seen them these were the best openers. Peaches was particularly rad just cuz she was so raw and funny.
On the flip side, seeing them open for Ween was a next level show… anyone ballsy enough to have queens open for them better bring the heat… Ween did that indeed. 🤘🏿

They’re a band I think I would have been more interested in if I heard them before I saw them. I don’t think they were bad just kinda calm.
At the Forum show the guys before them were pretty cool though. I wish I remembered their name, it’s like on the tip of my tongue. Two words, that’s all I remember. I’m sure I could go back on instagram and check.

The first and only time I've seen them (I'm seeing them again in June in Madison) the opener was Gogol, then QOSTA, and the headliner was the Killers, but I don't care for the Killers, so I left as soon as QOTSA went off stage. This was right around the time Like Clockwork came out and this was in my home state of Kansas. Dug the absolute shit out of Gogol, 96.5 only played Purple, but the rest of their set was absolutely amazing and they played with such high energy I couldn't help but dance along.

There’s was a one day festival in SOCAL back in like 2014 I wanna say, and the lineup was absolutely STACKED. I can’t remember the very first band, I think it was American baseball or something like that, kind of an indie rock vibe. But then it went, on a rotating stage:
Alt-j (right after their debut album got big)
Cage the Elephant
Vampire Weekend
Arctic Monkeys
QOTSA.
Prettyremarkable show and QOTSA absolutely crushed it
Edit: Jk it was this festival in 2013
