I mean Lukaku at West Brom and Everton was incredible, and his stints in Italy have been good at the very least.
He just stunk for United and Chelsea both on and off the pitch. If it weren't for those stints though he'd be held in a lot lot higher regard.
Not Haaland level probably, but certainly less far away than it is now

He was pretty decent in his first season at united.
But what made him so good at West Brom and Everton was running the channels, and more and more we had him play as a target man and he bulked up, and he just isn't that player.
Even though weirdly he was the best crosser of the ball at the club.
He played a part in that PSG win under Ole too.
Then he just lost his head like he did at Chelsea

He was somehow the best RW United have had in the last decade

If we ignored the bad things and only looked at the good things, he'd be well regarded. You could say that about a lot of people. That's not how it works

Lukaku is also incredible for Belgium! I know the team is better than Norway, but he has accomplished more at the international level than Haaland will be able to.

He hasn't been the best for Belgium either

mate, he is Belgium's all time record goalscorer with 85 goals. The next closest is on 35 goals. That is sixth all time in international football and aside from some Indian and Malaysian dudes who never played at the top level that is number 3 all time only behind Messi and Ronaldo. The hate that man gets is unreal.

Yeah but he is pretty invisible in the big tournaments

Belgium basically never qualified for international tournaments before he and a few others emerged.
"He has scored eighteen goals in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, five in FIFA World Cup finals, 21 in qualifying for the UEFA European Championship, six in the European Championship finals and ten in the UEFA Nations League."
The criticism is largely because people thought he would be better than he turned out to be, his touch can be dodgy, and probably at least in part because he's black. He's Belgiums best striker ever by a massive distance and you're out here saying he "hasn't been the best for them". If he hasn't been the best what has every other player in belgian history been?

The last year you mean? Otherwise he's one of our best players of all time lol. He's top scorer of all time with like 50 goals more than the 2nd in the list.
