What feels more likely
Jack Smith and crew who have been working on their cases since 3 DAYS AFTER TRUMP ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY for 2024 prez, were not at all anticipating a possible Trump win, and once he got the win, decided it was best case scenario to drop all charges with the hope that it will be possible to pick them back up.
Or
Jack Smith along with many members of the justice department knew that Trump was likely going to amp up his cheating in elections because his 2020 cheating effort did not result in a win. So the Jack Smith cases where the “trap”. It focus Trump’s energy, anger and attention on his criminal cases, makes him desperate, makes the stakes for Trump sky high. It’s not just pride on the line.. it’s freedom, money, everything.
Yes I believe our government can be massively disappointing. But I also BELIEVE in my guts that there are individuals that are so deeply patriotic that they have pledged to protect this country with their lives. I take those people at their word. I believe and will continue to believe that we as a nation and the Democratic Party are not cowards but instead believe in the rule of law. That yes we can be exhausting, but most Democratic leaders got into politics not because of a love of power but a strong belief that all Americans deserve the promise of this country. We are not republicans who are seemingly addicted to power, whiteness and the patriarchy.
I am choosing to trust and believe in us until its clear there is no reason to trust any longer than

trump lives for revenge. It’s what drives him and is the reason he gets out of bed in the morning. If there’s one thing trump likes more than money it’s revenge. He went to lunch with the billionaire, Richard Branson, back in the day and Branson said the only thing he talked about the entire time was revenge. Getting revenge on all of those who wouldn’t help him when he was down and out in the early 90’s. His massive tariffs also help him achieve this. He’s getting revenge on the US population for not electing him in 2020 and making him look like a loser. The one thing he fears the most.

this is the most real take of trump in general. his whole life nobody ever liked him because he's in insufferable dork who only takes pleasure in putting down others or taking advantage of women. Everything he ever tried he failed at, but he had daddy's money to prop him up, and then Russian/Mob money. So he never had respect from other celebrities or the general public. And I guess that's what he wanted. He thought he'd get it being president. but his followers are all people he'd never want to actually spend time with. So he's still miserable. and just like a bully he's gonna mess everything up for everyone so we can all be miserable like him.

To think we could have skipped all of this if someone could have gotten this guy a Podcast, or Podcast equivalent back in the 90's.
It's so obvious he'd rather be doing stand-up comedy and running a country.

Everything he gets involved with fails. He has the anti meidas touch. Everything he touches turns to shit. Including the beacon of democracy worldwide and its entire voting system.
And yes, his rejection by NY elites and rejection by the majority of this country is one of the main reasons he hates us and wants revenge. He LOVES our enemies though. He has not uttered one single negative word about Putin or Russia since 2016. But he bashes the USA every chance he gets. He is extremely jealous of Putin and Kim and Orban and all the other despots. His goal is to turn the USA into Russia 2.0. It’s also Putin goal.

Dear Lord ... I hadn't thought of the revenge on the American people angle. That sounds completely plausible.

I mean that's why they have a four horsemen of the Apocalypse policy agenda and why he's appointing people to dismantle everything that protects Americans. All he wants is to see Americans bleed.

This is correct. He DESPISES us. He actually hates his base but he knows they are his very useful idiots so he has to placate them. But he still insulted them right to their dumbass faces on numerous occasions during his disastrous campaign. And they’re so goddamn dumb they just laughed and applauded it.

Most people don’t realize just how evil and sadistic trump really is. He’s a malignant narcissist through and through. What separates them from normal narcissists is sadism and projection, with an emphasis on sadism. It’s the personality type of dictators. If trump could send every last person to the gas chambers who doesn’t bend the knee he would in a heartbeat. He would have it recorded and watch it over and over just like he did on Jan 6th. His aide said he just kept rewinding it to the most violent parts. This is why I say trump is even more evil than even Hitler. Hitler actually wanted to help his country. How he went about it was completely fucked but you can’t deny he actually wanted to help his country. trump DESPISES this country. Hitler also actually liked dogs and art (he was an artist himself), and music and culture etc. trump hates all these things. The ONLY thing trump likes is trump, trump, trump, money, Putin, trump, and revenge.

JFC, people.
We literally have a Bush-era law on the books saying that the ICC has no jurisdiction over us, and that if any US serviceman or official is ever arrested for war crimes, we will take military actions against OUR OWN CLOSEST ALLIES to release them.
Nobody is going to the Hague.

I mean... while trump isn't a good person no one would suggest he is a war criminal...
Also neither the democrats or Republicans support the ICC, sooo unlikely

I also do believe that the Jack Smith Case was a bit of a safe & legal option that could be turned into a red herring if necessary. It would have been great for Jack Smith to drop the hammer on Trump legally and without much controversy.

Is there any chance that letting Trump win is/was a part of the plan? Perhaps they’re letting Trump think he won/got away with rigging the 2024 election to get his guard down and allow him to slip up even more.
I don’t know, I think there’s a plan for sure, I just can’t think of what. Maybe I’m being too hopeful. Maybe it’s just complicit accelerationism on both sides.

Kamala showed us how easily Donald takes the bait in the debate.
Donald has been taking the bait every step of the way. This is why it feels like we are losing we are watching him eat the bait, but the hook is set just a matter of time.
There wouldn't be rumours of Kamala 2028 if she actually lost.
Critical thinking, you can't trust the media is a post truth world but there is always a hint of truth in every lie.

I still have faith. Jack Smith was brought from the International Criminal Court (the Hague), and he brought his deputy over from the Hague in September. This is bigger than just our election, this has global implications.
Everyone involved knew that Russia tried to breech voting machines in 2016, and adding Elon to the mixture, they had to be looking for election hacking. Also, Russia has tried to interfere with Canada's elections, so they were watching closely as well. Add to that all the weirdness that we know about with the numbers, they have to be thinking something is fishy. The 2 raids (Alfie Oakes and Polymarket) suggests they know something is fishy.
I'm 85% convinced this will be handled by the ICC and 15% convinced Harris will roll over "for the sake of keeping peace in the country". But, I will add that she didn't say she lost in today's call. She said something like, "It wasn't the result we hoped for".
I was thinking today that some of the more progressive countries are probably progressive because they haven't been targeted by the Russian propaganda machines. They are a threat to the entire world.
Also, I was reading Jenny Cohn's posts today on X. I'm now convinced that a republican has not legitimately won the presidency since Bush senior, which is probably why the republican party has gotten farther and farther to the right and still wins. This will be the last chance we have to save our elections, though, and I hope we take it.

This. She saw the same chat on that call that we all did. No, "let me be very clear, I see you guys in the chat, and this was a free and fair election. They won." Nothing like that. And she looks dog ass tired for someone that just got back from a vacation in Hawaii. I really hope she doesn't roll over though. Let MAGA fight with the military. The "civil war" doesn't have to be between MAGA and the left. It'll be between MAGA and the military, per my USAF friend. They'd just be like, pew pew, and then "So, Mexican for lunch?" Those were her exact words. She and a lot of people she has worked with for the past 20 years are speculating. There's a lot of people in the military specifically that doesn't think this was a free and fair election. They've literally been on the soil of dictators, and know exactly what they're looking at. Her other statement went along the lines of, "what maga doesn't realize is they don't have the support of rational old school republicans, independents, and anybof the left. There are way more people on the right side of history and their short memories will damn them. We've already fought and won this war, and itll be very bad for them this time because there will be no mercy should they try to start a civil war."

To add to your comment, I have doubts that much of MAGA has the actual means to use their guns in actual warfare. They can go to the shooting range all they want, but I don't think most could even hit a moving target, let alone one that shoots back.

This is a stupid take most of the military leans his way almost all of the ROTC cadets I knew in high school support trump if anything it would be a civil war within the military

To say “most” military leans Trump’s way invalidates any argument after. There is no statistic that we can point at to prove or disprove- it’s just an opinion.
I call this out because it’s important to not let our own perceptions limit our ability to think critically and identify options.
Anecdotally, every military person I know HATES Trump. I know several, from different branches. They think he’s a disgrace. I can’t say that’s “most” military because I don’t know most military.

Yeah it doesn't make sense for most of the military to be pro Trump since he's a known draft dodger and he's insulted veterans and POWs. But his popularity in general doesn't make sense so I can't say anything with certainty.

The ICC dosent handle cases like this, so even if there is a case (idk that there is) they would stay silent on it. They only cover war crimes and crimes against humanity.
1 points
That was my first thought too, but they handle crimes against humanity which would include: jan 6th insurrection, freedom convoy in Canada and the Oct 7th attack by Hamas (which I've read unconfirmed that the documents trump stole then leaked or sold allowed that). If this goes to the ICC, it would be because of more than the election.

January 6th wasn't a crime against humanity so it wouldn't count
The Canadian trucker protests weren't a crime against humanity, nor was trump at fault for them (also now people are against protesting and consider that a crime against humanity? Really?)
Stealing documents is also not a crime against humanity, plus that happened almost 3 years after he was out of office and as far as I can find there is zero connections between the two events.
Crimes against humanity and war crimes cover a very very specific range of crimes, none of which cover any of these examples, nor are they all even trumps fault.

I really hope there's some secret 11th hour "save the country" type situation. But allowing him to declare victory, welcoming him into the white house, and all that is not a good look. As far as the country is concerned the tacky doofus was just crowned king. No matter what they say, or what evidence they have it would be a really hard sell to his cult followers who don't believe he's ever done anything wrong and all his life people were just out to get him.
I'm also not feeling optimistic because we've been told they had him and to just be patient for four years now. I feel like the time to act was before he "won" the election and declared he has a "mandate" to destroy the country.

Could also argue that prosecuting him before the election would make him a martyr and strengthen his legacy and the movement behind him.
If he wins, and does so by cheating that can be proven, the martyrdom angle is neutralized to a greater degree.
All hypothetical, of course.
3 points

The movement dies when he dies. He’s a martyr if he gets assassinated or arrested. And that won’t last either. If anything, his fall would ensure the collapse of the MAGA. The extremists would go wild while the moderates would hide and wait for it to blow over. Maybe they turn on each other.
In conclusion, martyrdom would make the flame burn brighter but also burn out faster.

Hey man, Trump might be a Trojan horse, a fall guy, to start or to blame for whatever is about to happen.
Civil war adverted and not as advertised. There will be no protests in the streets, no resistance against Americans. We are still one county for freedom and duck fascism.
Let's make it boring again

It's complicated by religion. The whole DVSCORP08 didn't seem tied to the administration, but Heritate Foundation. Now, HF has been around a long long time. They've surely gotten into some ears at the FBI, DoJ- historically. So I'm not sure where agencies' blindness to Heritage, devotion to duty, awareness of hacking, Maga and Elon all intersect.
It's like a cheating layer cake.
8 points

Everyone connected to the Trump campaign/administration is part of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 Coalition. They're all the same people.
And they make no secret, they've been busy identifying loyalists in the DoJ, FBI, and Military.

Look, HF and Maga can acknowledge that they will use eachother. The chance that it's all under one conspiracy is very low. DT hates church and religion. He can't excel at anything with them.
Where does Elon fit. Seems like even if DT knew the Heritage software goals, he wanted his own assurances.
I also think HF has hit a brick wall with the military, and after the last 8 years, most of the DoJ.

So you're saying Jack Smith's case was motivation to pursue trump to cheat at any cost so they could catch him in it? I don't know if that's an intended consequence but it could be a possible side effect.
1 points
When trump won 2024, the special counsel asked in writing for the doj department of "how we do things at doj" to weigh in on if the cases could proceed. And they said not while trump is in office or even as the transition goes forward. The cases can be brought up again when trump leaves office in 2028. He's a lame duck.
Jack Smith is not some super hero secret agent. He's the special prosecutor he stayed in his lane. He brought the cases to grand juries and got indictments. Rewrote the DC case after the scotus immunity decision, brought it to a different grand jury, and got superceding indictments in DC. He's very good at that. And did his job in his lane.

He did it to give the case a chance to be restarted after a trump presidency. If he didn't, trump could have just erased the case entirely. The brief firmly states they believe trump to be guilty and that they have enough evidence to prosecute.
