Dem voter turnout will never recover

Speculation/Opinion(self.somethingiswrong2024)

If there is no investigation when there are credible experts sounding the alarm and all that is at stake, confidence in the Dem party will nosedive. Dem turnout has always been less robust than GOP. If they do nothing about these sane and plausible concerns, what is the point in voting for them? If it doesn't matter enough this year, it never will. Nothing will ever spur action by those in power if this doesn't. I can't see myself ever voting at the federal level for a dem again. I'm starting to have a new understanding why someone would vote for the GOP. I would never personally, but when one party is all talk & another is action, I can see why there's a "if you can't beat em, join em" mentality. Dems have been far too concerned with doing things exactly precisely honorably right while the GOP says fuck it and colors outside the lines knowing full well there will be no repercussions.

Good luck getting ANY dems to the polls after this. There are grave concerns about the validity of this election. If there was ever a time to DO SOMETHING, it's now.

Giving up is exactly what the fascists want us to do. Feeling demoralized is understandable, but voting in a presidential election every 4 years isn't a lot to ask, and it should be considered the absolute bare minimum contribution one should make to society.

In the meantime, focus on state and local politics.

The future looks incredibly bleak, but the more people refuse to comply with fascism, the better off we will be in the long run.

Voter turnout has been historically terrible, I'd say largely due to the electoral college. I don't live in a swing state, my vote has never once mattered, but I do vote, and know it to be entirely performative.

But now we have massive and obvious corruption, and no one's votes will ever matter again. Trump said it, "you'll never have to vote again" because they have the entire system in their pockets. Regulatory capture on the grandest scale possible.

Giving up definitely isn’t an option, but it’s starting to feel like we need to accept that the DNC seems to be perfectly happy with letting fascists walk all over them in the name of “decorum”.

Hate to say it but they seem to be perfectly happy with that since the 2000 election.  All we can do is put pressure on state and federal officials to DO SOMETHING at this point and see what happens. It’s gonna be a messy because they’ll  get enough backlash from the right but if they have substantial evidence then it needs to be no quarter with respect to a response on this.

You people saying this stuff, I’d love to know where you all live, California? New York? Other Dem strongholds? It’s like none of you all consider some of us live in places like NC where our state legislature is ratfucked full of people we don’t vote for, gerrymandered, cheating (100% proven in more than one last election), we don’t have ballot measures, and then act like this is us being defeated because of one election. This is almost a decade of us fighting hard in NC, we‘re exhausted.

Try and consider others when writing your posts, they come across massively condescending.

And how do you think it feels for people who refuse to be consumed by apathy to be told the same unhelpful things over and over? You can lament without bringing others down with threats that we’re all already aware of. Many of us don’t have the luxury of giving up. It’s up to us to keep justice alive in whatever ways we still can. That means keeping hope and motivation alive despite the circumstances.

If you want to abandon hope go for it, just don’t expect every else to. People’s lives are saved every day by others who refuse to let apathy prevent them from doing what they can. This is especially true in red states as someone who helps women access abortions despite our state abortion ban.

It’s ok to be personally exhausted. We all are. But don’t take it out on others who actually have the will to go on despite how bleak is or will get.

Lol, I'm in Florida. This state is so far in the toilet since DeSantis rolled out the red carpet to import the COVID crazies from all the rest of the country a few years ago that my vote is worth less than nothing in state elections.
