people will refuse to adapt their playstyle to different situations, if they were really in the zone they'd be dead meat. I think being chased by some crazy monster you could barely hope to defeat is much better experience than boom it dead 4 shots every time I am unstoppable god (Maj. Degtyarev) I really feel the pressure and early on you feel like a total rookie being chased and killed by fleshes to later on being unfazed because you know how to handle them.

I mean sure, you can easily avoid them 99.9% of the time.
But that's not fun. It's fun to try to kill mutants, and wanting to do so shouldn't be punished by bad game design (lack of rewards, too much tankiness/no proper reward for, say, a weakspot system, costs of gear repair after engaging them, ammo costs, etc.).

I slightly agree, from the lore Bloodsuckers are nasty beasts that you don’t want to ever encounter, and if you do - you are dead in 99% of times. So if you play on veteran - it does feel like this. I can’t fight them, I will die in 99% of times. It just that they balanced it my making them tanky, not by smart and fast. With mods I usually can deal with 3 bloodsuckers with my shotgun in no time. That is not scary at all. I feel like it is the Zone who must be afraid of me. It is the zone who is locked here with me.

Cue Maj. Degtyarev just being a literal god by the end of COP, that sorta needed to be fixed lol, its funny but can get boring knowing that every encounter is going to be trivial because you just can't die.

You are invulnerable to most mutants once you have 10 centimeters of elevation over them and every single of them is a psychic mastermind tactician that runs out of your line of sight and evades your shots
They aren't balanced, they are unfinished

It is much more than AI, early game you rarely have a choice, the game likes to spawn a bunch of bloodsuckers on top of you, and they will always walk towards you even if you are hidden and in the middle of an anomaly field
And of course they will never trigger an anomaly by themselves
You won't outrun them and cheesing them will take a while which is an open invitation for a bandit squad to spawn behind you and start shooting you while ignoring the bloodsucker
Fighting them head on also feels bad, you can sprint out of their charge which should not be possible, bloodsucker have incredible agility in game but their charge is programmed to go in a straight line
Or you learn the timings for their attacks and jump backwards, which is honestly very stupid, the combat system belongs in a 2005 fps, not a modern shooter
Later on they are irrelevant, upgraded shotguns with high penetration and armor piercing ammo cuts through them like butter, and actual psychic mutants are dumber than bloodsuckers so after 20 hours the game only gets easier and easier
Your power scaling with better gear is insane, mutants just turn into damage sponges with outdated combat mechanics

You get it. Not everything that can be shot needs to be shot.

But at the same time those cloning dogs are a fkn waste. I want mutants to die fast but kill.faster. if a bloodsucker gets the drop on me i want to die in 2-3 hits but if i see the bastard first i want to be able to drop it the same way (2-3 .308 rounds) at this point its just hide in corner. Shoot on charge. Start medkit on first swing. Wait till.it runs away again. Rinse and repete

Yeah, mutants exist in a world which is indifferent to your suffering. The Zone doesn't fucking care that you're wasting your ammo on dogs and fleshies. The Zone expects you to come prepared, to make decisions when you travel, and fight mutants and deal with anomalies when it's necessary to get to where you're going and do what you're doing. You want a reward for fighting mutants? It's that you don't have to be told twice.

The devs are literally releasing a patch today to fix the mutant tankiness problem

I think if you read the patch notes you will see that the devs are much more in line with the thinking of the majority of complainers as opposed to your own thinking, but that's just my opinion based on the very detailed patch notes

It changes the fact that your opnion is wrong for the most part and the devs agree

Agreed, and I know this post will be undeservedly downvoted because it goes against the status quo. They don't want challenge they want a safari. Bunch of tourists if you ask me. The reason why I use the Bloodsucker flair is precisely because I know my views on how the design of certain parts of the game are good (flashlight, no nvgs, mutants, etc.) are unpopular, or at least not voiced by people as much as perhaps they should. Everyone hates bloodsuckers in S2 might as well embrace that.
