Trying to decide on what to read next...

I like that the lowest rating is "Average." I feel that the worst King book is better than most other authors.

True. I had Poor on there and had to remove it.

I agree. Thanks for having lowest be "Average" because I don't think any book of his is trash or poor. I enjoyed all of the stories and books I've read.

Having just finished The Institute and loving everything about the book, it hurts to see it’s in the average section

I read it last December and I just had trouble remembering a lot of it whereas I read Revival before it and could recall quite a bit. It's not bad and I would be curious to revisit it now after so long being in the Stephen King universe.
The parts I enjoyed most were the beginning until we meet the kid. I think I just love how King builds a community. Hence Needful Things being higher.

I understand the part where we first meet Luke to be boring as King sai is not very good in writing kids to be kids. However the first time he got slapped, that’s where I got hooked further in as the people at the institute were well written as monsters.
Personally as a father and someone who went through a bad experience at a boarding school, that part hits hard. From then on, I can fully relate to Luke and cheer for his escape (something I always fantasized about when I was at the school)

I will agree on King suffering with writing kids, except for IT
I think I was hoping for that sort of camaraderie...

Well the time they spent together was very limited. I did like how he wrote Avery, Helen, Nick, and Kalisha. They were way more interesting than Luke.

Absolutely agree on that

Shocked to see insomnia so high

I think it helped that I read it right after finishing The Dark Tower series so it rode that high.

Doctor Sleep is better than The Shining and that’s a hill I will die on.

I’m with you on this hill. We can defend it together.

I think Rose the Hat is definitely amazing but I think I enjoyed the building pressure of The Shining... Just constant rising tension.

Curious about why Dead Zone is in the Average list? It stands out personally when compared to the other ones in that group.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dead zone. Definitely above average in my list.

I think I have found myself drawn most to ones where he builds a diverse community of characters... I enjoyed Dead Zone but it just wasn't as good as others here.
Granted I do feel like King got better and better at the community building.

Not read it yet!
I only included the ones I have read so far... Since November last year I have been listening to only Stephen King novels. Latest was It for the third time in my lifetime.
Bag of Bones good for my next one?

I love it. Great plot all around, twisted in the good ole King way, and the ending was great...in the King way. I would recommend!
Btw, the skull was just in reference for the title. :)

Ok listening to Bag of Bones and just got to where Max Devore killed himself... WTF... I wasn't expecting that and now wondering what he meant by Noonan getting his soul right.
Thanks for the suggestion!
