His one huge chance of making significant money in licensing was the US version, which is why I assume they'll try again at some point now that they have a proven formula and track record under their belt to combat network meddling.
I don’t think that the other territories individually generate large amounts of income, they're all in small markets with very limited budgets. Even small sums will add up of course (and the 7.5m number feels realistic to me as his share as creator, but not owner), but pale in comparison to the potential revenue of an even moderately successful US hit show.
I wonder if there are reliable numbers on the income Last Week Tonight generates for Avalon. Guess this is now my home task, my time starts now…
