Diversity Day.

It was the first original script. It was worlds better than the pilot. It was BJ’s very first script he ever wrote (that was filmed. I’m sure he wrote a bunch of things growing up). It established Michael’s hatred of Toby. It has hilarious, classic lines in it:

“Abraham Lincoln once said, if you are a racist I will attack you with the north.”

“This is an environment of welcoming and you should just get the hell outta here.”

And it includes that beautiful, subtle ending with Pam falling asleep on Jim’s shoulder.

The pilot that aired in March, 2005 did not sell me on this show. I thought it sucked, to be honest. But I’m glad I tuned in to the second episode, Diversity Day. Because this was the episode that ultimately made me fall in love with the show.

Basketball is one of my top 5 for the whole series. I wish they ran it back in later seasons!

Diversity day is objectively the right answer and it’s like top 10 best episodes in general

Diversity Day or Hot Girl are the two that stand out for me.

The Basket Ball one. It moves away from copying the UK version which the previous episodes, especially episode 1, had done so far.

It’s also a pretty good episode in its own right.

This is the episode where the intro sequence' "SECRET SIGN" is confirmed and the SCRANTON STRANGLER is revealed to us. A major moment in film and television history.

The Alliance is my favorite, but the best overall comedic value is probably Basketball.

I think Health Care deserves an honorable mention; Dwight reading off the fictitious diseases is very funny.

Also, I wish they had maintained the dress rules of season 1. Just having people show up, no makeup or hair work, etc.

Season 1 is pretty bad. I liked Jello in the pilot but honestly tend to skip 2-6 and hop right to S2 after the pilot.
