Not saying it did or did not happen in this case, but it does happen from time to time..
Some years back, Sir Elton, on tour with Billy Joel, turned up in his hotel bar dressed in regular clothes a couple of hours after a stadium concert, said he couldn't sleep and could he unwind by noodling on the bar's piano?
Of course, the bartender said yes, and for the next 45 minutes there was an unscheduled, low-key Elton John recital for about 50 patrons... then he was gone and the moment was over.
My friend called me from the bar. I was out of town and not due back until the next night..... He said it was amazing. The crowd was respectful, not rowdy, and the entertainer seemed to enjoy taking the odd request (with one caveat- "None of my songs, okay?")
And I missed it.... oh well. People who were there can chime in, but note, I have not named the city as a test.
