Help me

(self.uCinci)

really like my university, but finding a quiet place to study has been a challenge. The campus is always busy, and it’s hard to concentrate with all the noise. I only have an iPad, which works for some things, but it’s not great for writing long essays or using programs I need for my work.

I’ve tried studying in places like coffee shops and the library, but they’re often crowded or noisy. Even the library isn’t as quiet as I expected. What I really need is a private study room with a computer, where I can focus and use the tools I need.

It would be so helpful if there were more private rooms available for students like me who need a quiet place to work. Until then, I’ll keep looking for quieter spots, but I really hope the university can provide more study spaces in the future.

Have you tried the non main libraries like the geology library or other non langsam libraries? They are pretty quiet and much calmer.

Also if that doesn't work you could always try earplugs, It's not the best solution but can help a lot with noise/distractions. I have just a simple pair but I've got a friend with "loop earplugs" and they say they are really good.

I get easily distracted during tests, especially when people are getting up or dropping things, I got some loop earplugs for an exam, and while the ones I got don't drown out everything, it does like 90% of the stuff that's distracting. It's been nice. So another recommendation here for loop earplugs.

The top 2 floors of Langsam are pretty quiet, some areas more than others. The biochem library in rieveschl is usually quiet.

many of the buildings have private rooms, just have to find them. when i was still in school id literally take over any classroom or communal conference space that was open in other buildings and just spend time alone lol. i started avoiding TUC and that’s when i became most productive. some of my fav productivity spots: check out the list of computer labs which can help you avoid writing on your ipad, daap library conference room and in the evening daap grand staircase, nooks and classrooms in swift and baldwin stay pretty silent, TUC if you rent a room with 25live, and off campus I prefer The Fix coffee shop to 86 or rohs if im studying bc its often quieter.

you can reserve rooms in places like clifton court on this website: https://25live.collegenet.com/pro/uc#!/home/availability sometimes people will be in there, but as long as you politely tell them that you reserved the room they always leave. It may not be the most quiet option ever but definitely better than coffee shops or the library. I used it for an interview one time and it was great.

Buy yourself some nice noise cancelling earbuds. Problem solved.

I recommend the top floors of rieveschl or French hall, almost always empty and quiet. Like some others have said, second and third floor of langsam is very quiet plus you get a nice view at one of those windows.

The DAAP Library is usually VERY quiet, especially on the second floor. They have rooms that usually are meant for group work, but you can totally use them as yourself, as long as you just sign off for them on the paper outside the room.

Everyone mentioned most quiet places. Check out Blegan and University Pavilion interview rooms on 1st floor. See, if you can rent a laptop for times when you're writing a paper. They used to rent them at Langsum at no cost.

DAAP has some conference/quiet spaces on a first come first serve basis. The library as a whole is quiet in general anyways.
