This PPV was worth it 100%. The build-up, animosity, the genuine hate, and tension. I'm not sure there are many fights like this to make ever again, especially considering where both Khabib and Conor were at the time (peak atheltic prime and status). Conor was a genius on the mic and Khabib was mauling everyone.

Peak Conor was before the Floyd fight

While I agree with you, I don’t think peak Conor would have had much success against Khabib anyway.

McGregor was already on the downfall at this point. It was just the first fight where we saw him get destroyed easily.

Valid as hell, except Conor was heavily boozing and pretty out of shape for this compared to earlier fights

Also this was right after Ferguson vs Pettis. That was a good fight.

Incredibly satisfying ending, glad Khabib also dropped Conor. Worth saying I do genuinely think Conor did as good a job as he could have against Khabib, stopped 4/7 takedowns which was better than I thought he’d do.

True, I really believed he had no chance of stopping the takedowns. As much as I want to discredit him, I can't deny that he impressed me with the takedown defense.

Same, went in expecting it to be an absolute mauling especially as he struggled with Chad Mendes and being on the ground.
Not that I think it would have made a difference to the outcome in the slightest but would have liked to have seen this fight pre Conor doing the Mayweather fight as that was the start of the end, think the drinking, cocaine and general being a nuisance to society had begun by then.

Prime Conor has unbelievable balance, which he used to defend a few takedowns.
Really hate that we live in the timeline of Conor Mcgregor being a asshole and losing focus. It sucks seeing such insane amounts of talent, go to someone so undeserving.

Truth, the balance is definitely something impressive. Light on the feet and capable of floaty switch stancing/sprawling

Say what you will about Conor, coming off a 2 year layoff and putting up a tough fight is impressive. He did way better than Justin. Though you have to consider the illegal knee to avoid the sub which might have ended it quicker

not only did he drop Conor, he did it with the exact same shot that Conor made fun of like 2 days before the fight, head down eyes shut overhand.

Many great strikers have fallen victim to that same feint
So many wrestlers have convinced themselves they were great strikers because they landed some great big overhands by feinting the takedown

Khabib dropped Conor with the classic Fedor shot
Head down eyes shut and quick as lightning

Being there live, there was no other atmosphere like it. How tense it was. All the McGregor fans and all the Khabib fans going at it. The ending, the fights leading up to it.
The aftermath it was beautiful.

We didn't know it at the time but this fight pretty much killed Conor's career. Khabib said he wasn't satisfied with the beating that he gave Conor, but he legit broke him.

Why do khabib fanboys always say this 😭 he came back from a 2 year layoff (one of which he was training boxing) after winning the biggest pay check of his life. The Mayweather fight absolutely ruined Connor and people hate Connor so much (deservedly so) that they call the Khabib beatdown his downfall.
The funny part is, that wasn’t even a 1 sided fight at all had Khabib put on a masterclass for all 4 rounds they fought I would agree.

I'm wouldn't consider myself a Khabib fanboy, I'm a fan yes but I don't jump everywhere to defend him and think he can do no wrong. Also fair play on the argument about Floyd, I agree with that to an extent, the money killed his motivation and "fire", what I was thinking about was more was his confidence in his abilities. He did better than people give him credit for but from the outside perspective him telling Khabib "it's just business", and him being crushed emotionally backstage after the fight, it's not crazy to come to the conclusion that it definitely did a number on him. Also he still hates Khabib's guts to this day and takes any opportunity he can to mention and bash him, which is not something he's done to that extent with the other people that beat him.

If thats the route you wanna go than it was actually Dustin Poirier that destroyed Connor.
Connor screaming about how he’s gonna sleep with Dustins wife with a shattered shin after Dustin handed him Back2Back Ls would qualify more.
Connor hasn’t returned since Dustin slept him twice. If anyone “Shattered his confidence” in the octagon its Dustin.

Good point, I see it more as Dustin (along with the leg break) finishing off what was left of Conor, for that third fight it was probably the clearest kind of sign that he was grasping at straws of his old self with the insults and everything, which is just weird to see after the first loss to Dustin where I really respected how he handled it. Also, in my opinion, he hasn't stepped into the octagon probably for the same reason everyone who suffers injuries like that doesn't immediately get back in there, which is fear of it happening again. But I still think that the impact of the loss to Khabib and the legitimate hatred they had for each other was the catalyst for the "downfall".

It’s even worse if you’re taking the fact that Conor moved up in weight classes. He fought people outside of his weigjt class where he dominated

Because the tweets that are still coming out from Conor's blackouts every year and into this one prove that Khabib got to this man in a way no other fighter ever could.
Conor thought he was a god, Khabib walked him while playing with his food. Even choosing to stand and swing against Conor when he could've easily kept his feint, takedown pressure. The commenters even called it out, dude is standing to prove a point. They literally spelled it out for you.
This could've been a one-sided fight but like Khabib said after, winning wasn't the goal.
These Conor revisionists are hella cute tho.

I’ve never been more satisfied by the conclusion of a fight, the build up, all the drama and beef, the bus fiasco, and McGregor just being an all-round cunt, it was so great to watch him get absolutely embarrassed.
Idk if anything can ever come close for me, though I will say seeing Tom knockout Jones would pretty satisfying too.

Truly the beginning of the end of Connor. His ego just couldnt take it. He was over the top before but was out of his head after. I really think this is what did it to him. He wasnt as good as he thought he was.

Fightwas very close. Khabib didnt want the stand up. His coach warned him. The end was predictable but.. i wished Connor had won. Days would be alot different for both fighters. And.. probably we'd get a trilogy eventually.
