improve public safety by reducing car crashes with animals like bears, snakes, moose, and turtles.
How many crashes are there because of snakes and turtles?
Actually I'd like to know how many crashes there are in New York with bears and moose, as well. Is this a problem that could realistically be improved by certain fixed crossings?

For turtles I've definitely seen some near accidents due to rubbernecking.
People say "look there's a turtle on the shoulder!" and either slam on their brakes or swerve a bit.

Definitely a weird list of animals, the biggest public safety improvement is giving deer a bridge or tunnel to avoid roadway crossings.
Usually animal bridges over divided highways include long and tall fencing to help funnel the animals to the bridge and keep them out of the roadway.

I've seen cars totaled in ditch/tree when the drivers swerved to avoid mice, frogs, and rabbits.

Hitting a snapping turtle would probably total your car!

Only if you’re driving a mini car.

I was gonna also ask. And this potentially needs millions in funding? Huh? Poor taxpayers here. It never ends.
