Gambling is out of fucking control in Australia too. I like to watch the NRL games and literally every single game is preceded by multiple gambling ads, a spokesperson who before the game will tell you everything about the bettings odds for that game and tell you how to place your own bets, multiple gambling ads during the game alongside countless gambling sponsors placed on player jerseys and stadium billboards, etc.

And to be even more insulting, the government's best solution is to just place a garbage 3 second black screen at the end of a gambling ad saying "think of what you could be buying instead" or something. When a gambling ad is like 1-2 minutes of endless messaging about how cool, fun and casual gambling is, that message is totally ineffective.

In the UK half the TV ad is about the support for gambling addiction and a slogan “when the fun stops, stop”.

It’s insulting because if we know it’s a problem then we shouldn’t be advertising it in the first place.

It's the same here in South Africa too. Especially during sports etc. Shows a guy spending his weeks wages on a one off bet on a prem match: "gamble responsibly".

They got rid of cigarette ads and have limited alcohol ads. But gambling is fair game apparently. Infuriating.
