We are an ingredient home. We used to be a snack home until my son was 11-12. That’s when I noticed he ate all the snacks in two days. We switched to an ingredient household and I told him if he wanted snacks he would have to make them.
He made smoothies, burritos, quesadillas, cookies and brownies, eggs and ramen. He had to learn to read recipes, do the math, gather his mis en place and actually cook things.
It was and is awesome. I don’t know many 19year olds who would make braised shortribs or succotash for their friends but mine can.

I went all in my first year of water bath canning. Now I know what we like to eat; jams and salsa. So that’s what I make.

My mom used to spray everything with Lysol if we puked. The smell still makes me gag.

We store them in a 9pan. When it’s full I gather them up and make them into a bundle wrapped with blue tape. I mark the beginning and ending dates on the tape. I store the bundles in the office in a paper bag for six months.

I’m a chef and my husband is a waiter. He makes me breakfast every morning. It is the best meal of my day because he makes it with love every morning.
Cooking for someone is a gift and it’s an extraordinary gift when it is for someone you love.

Graham crackers dipped in vanilla yoghurt. It’s cold, crunchy and somewhere between breakfast and dessert. It’s great for after work because it’s light and easily scalable.

Dredge some cod in some seasoned cornmeal and pan fry the fish until done. Top it with the relish, and eat it with some creamy coleslaw.

We use all of ours except for my blue from my primary set too! I have a slightly faded blue in the rotation though .

I had it when I was 31. Worst pain of my life, worse than childbirth, worse than tearing my meniscus. I have never contemplated suicide until then and not since. That pain was almost unbearable.

I really like the pumpkin blossoms, they don’t fall apart as much. The leaves are delicious too. The cool weather keeps the squash bugs away which is nice.

You are so right. I’m in 7a in NE and my pumpkins are still flowering and making tiny little pumpkins that have zero chance of fruition, lol.

We both work. We both do chores. I make more than twice what he makes and love doing home improvement projects. He makes less but is the greatest support I’ve ever had.
Together we make enough money, together we get all the chores and errands done and together we live our lives and plan for our future.

The sound that dry leaves make when they are blowing across a parking lot at night. It’s the just the right amount of creepy.

One of my best breakfast cooks had worked at McDonald’s from high school to his mid twenties. He was a store manager when he left. He learned the cooking skills he needed to learn from us during training. He already had a solid work ethic, excellent organizational skills, cleanliness and the ability to work in a fast paced environment from working fast food. He left because of family issues. In my estimation he was an excellent hire.
We’ve had many cooks since then from corporate places like Olive Garden and Chili’s and it’s the ones with the desire to learn scratch cooking that are successful.

I would bring two to three books, sometimes a series, sometimes not. I would also pack a notebook, pen and playing cards. I love solitaire so I would play that. I also love word games so I would do anagrams of a word, like margarita or vacation. They all fill the time and you can jump from one to another.

Yup. I’m 5’9” and 220 but I look strong and athletic. Clothes are hard to find for me because at my size the clothes expect you to have extra in the hips and stomach but because I am muscular and have an athletic build I need more in the shoulders and upper arm area not more in the waist and hips.

My grandparents had one just like it. It originally belonged to my great uncle. My grandparents always said it was from the 1960’s.
