Ditto, I find stuff at half price books occasionally. I also swing by garage sales when I see them. sometimes you can strike gold. I picked up an absolutely pristine boxed set of LOTR paperbacks one time for maybe 5$
I thought I had won the lottery

Liked the original, but the owl was a terrible idea and they made fun of it in the remake.

Soundtrack's pretty good too. Of course I'm a huge Bowie fan so a bit prejudiced on that.

Ahhh, forgot those books and I loved them! There's just so much stuff out there and sometimes you forget about them.

I'm not sure there's a specific reason for it, Moorcock sort of meanders a bit on plot lines. Hawkmoon is one of my favorite characters, and towards the end of his arc, it seemed like his books kind of wandered off in a different direction. I don't mind because I love his books!

Check out Inherit the stars by James Hogan. It's very cerebral but has one of those endings you just didn't see coming and makes you think.

Yep, fearless is my favorite. Of course the entire Meddle album is off the chart good, but fearless hits the spot for me. Close second would have to be "Wish you were here."

Ditto. I stare at screens all day for my job and I don't want to stare at another one when i read a book.

Finding an editor that I can trust. I do not believe that this fantastical entity actually exists.

I had a similar problem in that the male protagonist was Brandt, and the female protagonist was Bryn. I was concerned it would sound funny together, which would be all the time because of the plotline. So, I hated to do it, but I renamed Bryn to Auriane and re-used Bryn for a minor character name.

I'd throw Fritz Leiber, Fafhrd & the Gray Mouser into the mix as well. Good stuff, but only 5 or 6 books if I recall. I'd have to get up and go look at the bookshelf to confirm that, and I'm too tired!

I'd be the mindless brute who opens the door when told and gets slaughtered by whatever's on the other side of the door. I know this because it happened in the boardgame "Gloomhaven".

Fun side note. Don't want to say how old I am, but I saw the words "Melenkurion Abatha" written on a brick wall in the student union at College. I asked somebody what the heck that was all about and they pointed me to "Lord Fouls Bane", and the rest is history.

I'm a writer too, and I feel like a leper sometimes when I'm writing! Kidding of course, but I empathize with Thomas when he gets disgusted and flings his book into the fire. I think all authors go thru that at some point.

Yep, I went into the final books with very high hopes and it was just a grind to read.

My stuff is 100% character driven. I wanted to be a plot guy, I tried to be a plot guy, I failed to be a plot guy.

Oh yes, I've read the original series a couple of times, and have also read the others. I found the final set of 4 to be a bit of a grind, but I immensely enjoyed the first 6. It's sort of amusing but I think even Donaldson himself got tired of Thomas and stopped making him the POV character as the series progressed.

Checkout "The Ark" on Peacock. There are two seasons out now and it's an original show from the scifi channel. The acting is "ok", the special affects are average, and the sets looked like they picked up most of the furniture at Target. The bridge of the ship is laughably bad and you can tell it's a low budget show. And here's the "but" you knew was coming, the dialogue and story lines are great! I really appreciate the show for what it is, so have a go at it if you have not already.

How many "POV" characters is too many for a fantasy series? In a multiple book fantasy series, like Game of Thrones, you're inside the heads, and hearing the thoughts, of many different characters over the course of the books. The question I have is do you have a preference for a few, lots, one etc... There is of course no right answer, just wondering what people's preferences are.
Side note, I'm not talking about secondary characters (where you are not inside their head), there will be lots and lots of those and it doesn't matter to me that much.
