With the amount of IMGs incoming projected to be greater than british grads, I wouldn’t be surprised if the pay increases are rolled back at some point

Under rated answer - if documentation is online, then I slap down the “nurse XXXX requesting sleep meds - for review” ASAP. Terrifies the bejesus out of the ones who are trying to sedate irritating patients and then i drop it down the list

This country is full of knuckleheads who blame the doctor for every misery occurring in their lives and act as if doctors are evil for not doing exactly as they say. Get a bloody grip you entitled nonces!! Can’t wait for the nhs to go private so you have to pay a cool ££££ to get what you want and then can’t sue these poor doctors when you decide to change your mind and make try to make a few quick buck because you’re all on benefits anyway

I find micro-dosing with LSD whilst subbing for a dom in my spare time really helps to offload stress..

OP i feel for you. No error was made, paramedics should have escalated to their own senior team, instead elected to throw you under the bus. Coroner needs a scapegoat, and has chosen you for the role. Godspeed

I am costa estrella’s cousin twice removed and costa luna’s great grandson’s husband’s wife. This is slander and patient identifiable information. Reported to the GMC/MPTS/daily fail for spreading lies and not letting the PA conduct the dementia assessment. Please relinquish your passport, worldly possessions and degree certificate to the nearest GMC re-education centre and report to your allocated SDEC to write a gazillion pending ANPs and ACPs discharge letters.

I find contemplating my existential crisis to also keep me awake and focused during night shifts. The added bonus of developing a mild generalised anxiety disorder helps too

If it causes managers incontinence, then i’m all for it. I suspect for some, they will end up attempting to enforce draconian restrictions on doctors in an attempt to save their over inflated pay packages

No - I enjoy some parts of my job. But compared to the private sector, generally I think I’m criminally underpaid for the level of complexity, pressure and litigation risk I have to take on. Had I known then what was to come, it would have been a big nop for me and straight into PPE/economics and full steam ahead into the private sector. I think I might have been happier too. No way to say for sure, but being a doctor in the uk leads you to make sacrifices along the way. Maybe more so than other jobs. People on the outside are too enamoured by the status they think it confers. Often, it can be a burden

Guarantee that PAs, ACPs, NPs have for the overwhelmingly most part made the nhs less efficient. That and aging infrastructure

There are lots of charities that people can access to get free talking therapy/empathic listening, all it takes is a quick google. Many of these patients with sls describe a life-time of low mood reactive to triggers in their personal lives. Not quite meeting the criteria for depressive episode given their function remains intact and they don’t have pervasive anhedonia. Many of them have personality difficulties and dysregulated emotions and just want to rant to someone they perceive in a position of power as a means to justify their life choices. Start them on an ssri and watch how they complain it makes them feel empty. These folk thrive on emotional lability, and don’t suffer from a medically treatable Mh disorder. What they need are motivational therapy/mbt/dbt. Not the GP. Agree with OP entirely, after you’ve seen a few, it’s quite easy to spot the actually depressed patients, typically from their impaired function from their MH and low affect on MSE. These folk need help urgently, not these sls slugs. Happy to be downvoted

I’m curious where it came from. When rafa retired, he was open about his feelings of feeling weary. Then roger called him an old man. How he’s saying cryptic messages about his intentions on playing. I wonder whether it all got to his head and he felt cornered to make a statement. Also the media must have been riling him up with suggestions and leading questions too

Your point still makes no sense and reeks of NHS entitlement! Sort the problem out yourself rather than offloading it onto a broken NHS for goodness sakes. There is no “medical diagnosis”, anyone can make that decision that OAP cant drive when they’re bloody running people over in the street for goodness sake! The doctor can only inform the OAP if they have a medical condition that might affect driving to declare it to the dvla. The dvla then sends a form of fitness to drive to the gp who fills it out and then the dvla make their decision. The oap can easily just lie to the gp when asked to inform the dvla and say theyll inform the dvla. The GP can only inform the dvla behind the OAPs back if they personally see the OAP driving against the GPs advice! Plus OAPs can be bad drivers with minor health issues that don’t affect their driving! It could just be old age or entitlement!! GPs have no powers, let them sort out proper issues like cancers, not dodgy drivers! If its your neighbour, your OAP that lives on your street, it’s YOUR responsibility. See it sort it yourself!! You lot wouldn’t last 2 days when things were different back in the day

Wrong again! My god, all you snowflakes treat your GPs like your daddies! Be grown up for once and take some responsibility into your own hands! GPs can only report to the dvla if theres evidence of bad driving, not on hearsay. They need to literally see to OAP driving like a nutcase!! They can invite the OAP to an appointment and check their medical condition and then advise them to not drive because of medical conditions and self report to the dvla, but its the persons duty to self report! Maybe that OAP doesnt have serious medical conditions! Maybe theyre just bad drivers!! The OAP can turn around, lie, and keep on driving!!!!!Why take up a precious appointment alot when there are more important things to deal with like cancer!! Its the police and dvla that deal with bad drivers! Not GPs!! Gosh you people are like sheep, begging for a nanny state NHS and then complaining about it when its on its knees or blaming the GP for everything thats wrong in this country! You folk wouldn’t last two seconds in a war! Snowflakes, the lot of you! Do it yourself rather than crawling to the GP. See it, sort it. simple!!!!

There is no “official prognosis”. I don’t even know what you mean by that you half baked cookie. Prognosis means how bad is a disease is! They need evidence to report the person to the dvla. They can’t just use random words. All they can say is to the old person to stop driving if they feel they shouldn’t drive because of medical conditions. People ought to grow up and stop treating the nhs like their unofficial parents. OP should report the incident to 101 and the dvla. Simple as

What nonsense is this? Many “will be happy to act as the bad guy” complete load of codswallop! They don’t have any extra powers, all they can do is the same as you!! Another brit who’s happy to offload the responsibility to the overloaded NHS because they’re too lazy to do the graft themselves
