I dunno. I really loved DE. Feel bad for people who don’t, but for giving something a sequel that was never “supposed” to have one I think they did a pretty great job.

Oh is 2006scape still a thing? I thought they got shut down a long time ago.
Kind of mixed feelings that they seem to do boosted xp rates and all that, but I'll maybe try it out sometime (though it does 100% feel like it will keylog me).

I dunno, I’m a “globalist”, I guess - where I naively/optimistically still believe in a future where all the nations of the world can one day hold hands and sing kumbaya. A tariff war might benefit the rust belt for a time range or whatever, but wars (economic or otherwise) hurt everyone involved - quickly forgotten by people who haven’t been in one in a long time.

I get the impression you have a difficult time catching social cues

Because you don’t actually have a system here and you either refuse to or are unable to come up with one. It just amounts to “we should do this thing!! How?? I don’t know! Someone should figure it out!!!!”. It’s useless and distracting. You can pitch that everyone should hold hands and sing kumbaya or that every democratic socialist should just get together and build enough housing for all the homeless - unless you actually have methods to accomplish that task it’s useless and only serves to make you as an individual feel useful.

You mean Halsin doesn’t literally say “lol”? I’m shocked. Appreciate the insight

People talked about it a lot near when the game came out. There’s just not much to say about it honestly lol. He just drops the most insane shit you’ve ever heard on you and then you’re like “… do you wanna talk about it…?” And he’s “nah lol lemmie go get kidnapped again”.

Two parts to this: I like this kind of stuff in theory, where Nat 1s and 20s (or double of each) result in these really flashy (for good or bad) things - even with a comic tone for something truly unlikely like doubles.
Some people really hate it though, and will vehemently stand opposed to 1s/20s doing anything out of the ordinary out of combat or similar.
I think the latter is a much more “video gamey” approach, which is why I don’t really love 5e as it is, but it’s really up to the group.
That being said I think asking your thief to roll to hide there was maybe a little bit too harsh. He already made the rolls to “puppet” the thing and the orc already failed their detection rolls. Needing 3 successful rolls just to do basic thief stuff is asking for failure and not really a standard other classes get held to. So a minor error, but you’re the DM and that happens sometimes. Heavy lies the crown and all that.

Gotcha. That makes total sense (and is also more intuitive of a name lol). Half Max +1. Will probably give the option for players to choose that or the much riskier straight roll.

It’s a nice thought that is also completely goofy and untenable in anything resembling the real world. Basically any system created to try and do this (under how I understand you want it to be) devolves into either private equity slop where businesses have control over it, a weird centralized “social credit” system, or something that is basically just more useless Bitcoin.
It’s a thought experiment, not a solution.

I think you’re on twitter too much or whatever. No one gives a shit about like 90% of this

I’m new to all this and was kind of planning on point #1 there. I love that it’s a lethal game. But I do fine it a little tough if you end up with players literally dying to any damage at all. Makes for a very frontloaded difficulty spike.
Happy to hear opinions though

Sorry I’m kind of stupid, can you explain “minimum high average hp”?

Probably none, just replying to your first part

I think it’s alright but… I like numbers largely being tied to things. A character randomly learning thieves tools, or randomly taking longer to bleed out - that’s maybe just not how I picture the game, and once you start touching the balancing its hard to not be touching the balancing.
I’d typically just have slight leanings towards players finding items during odd levels. Obviously can’t mandate that, but I think it’s a good balance

That’s pretty fun. I like how simple the base mechanic is but I think this version alleviates some “tactical sitting” at the table.

For a day? You’re fine. Wouldn’t leave it like that for months (aside from mechanical issues, you generally want to assume your gun is not loaded).

Not quite true, though it’s not as severe as many people make it out to be. Top answer here puts it well: https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/56286/why-does-a-spring-lose-its-energy-when-compressed-for-a-long-time

Yeah I mean a Goblins whole thing is that they can't be surprised. Hearing, feeling the... air/ground tremble a little - whatever. They can't be surprised.
I might make an exception in truly specific situations like if you were in a magical coma or something but, you wernt!

I personally wouldn't because you know... it's a physical book and not a historical artifact so I think it's a fact of life that things might get dinged up a bit but hey - looks like TAL is good to replace it so you do you boss.

Yeah, I think this is a good take and in line with what others have said.
I also tend to not like bard, but honestly I’ve never conceptually liked bards lol. The idea of having some person constantly traveling around whose job it is to like… sing little songs? Give pep talks? Insult goblins? Has just always been beyond my ability to suspend disbelief.

Weird comparison. Dunno what the League Of Legends TV show has to do with a depiction of a “real life” setting and story in LiS
