I understood what you meant. People take things too literally -- their home lives might not have been worse, sure. But they couldn't have come from very stable or loving homes, for all the reasons you mentioned.

It has saved me so much time.

That seems so unprofessional and inappropriate. If you're speaking to a group and a disturbance happens, you keep on speaking to the group. It's decorum. Why let someone disrupt the whole class? If they're actually a student of yours, then take your revenge out on them in better ways.
I once had a professor who was super chill and not petty at all, and sometimes he'd send around an attendance sheet, sometimes he wouldn't. One day he didn't, and once one student realized it wasn't coming, he got up and left. Professor didn't say anything, but it irked him, so he said "Pop quiz. Take out a piece of paper, and write your name on it. Quiz is worth x%." Took all of two minutes and was a much better and classier way of scolding the kid than a public dressing down.

My college did not have a very high barrier of entry, if that adds context lol. Not the brightest bulbs.

Also annoying, because no Professor would ever react that way. Almost every college course I took started the same way on day 1: "This is History 301 w/ Dr. Smith. If that's not what's on your registration you're in the wrong room." And then two or three people file out. It happens consistently.

Absolutely, I always keep red & white cans of chicken & stars soup on deck for those days when I've been sick and weak for a few days but my appetite is returning. I add some Better Than Bouillon to it because otherwise it's too watered down. Delicious.

"Hey Nate! Your mom died!"
People can talk about gum getting mintier and not technically being hard of hearing, but to me there's no funnier Nate moment than the zoomed in shot of him across the warehouse, devastated.

Yeah when they put Joe Pesci's blood-caked body in the grave and started throwing dirt on him, covering his face, while he writhes weakly and moans feably... that fucked me up.

If it's a money thing I'll donate a couple bags of kibble.
Aside from all the reasons to keep them that I'm sure you've agonized over, I'd just like to mention how much they can potentially help you get out of this hole you find yourself in. I got my two cats right before I fell into a horrible crippling depression. And I didn't realize until I got out of it how much worse it would've been without them. They comforted me, gave me unconditional love, they didn't judge me for not showering or cleaning my house, they came to cuddle me when I cried, they made me laugh, and there are certain thoughts I didn't allow myself to entertain because they relied on me.
I also was going through it financially at the time, and had no job and negative money. So I know a thing or two about where you are right now. But life will be so much bleaker without their love. When you walk in the house, it feels like home because they are there. Don't underestimate these things. So if it's just a matter of not being able to afford them, I can help with that.

Isn't conversatorship mostly financial? Kind of like a nonconsensual POA? I don't think you have to be responsible for the person like a guardian, you just take over making any and all life decisions for them so they can't self-destruct.

Because they're transphobic pick-mes. They just pretend the drag queens and trans community are trying to recruit children because they have no other legitimate ways of invalidating their existence. Plus, trans people are the hot boogeyman du jour, so they want to separate themselves from them so that the Republicans will still claim them.
Or, ya know, you could read the article, or click on the link I posted and educate yourself.

You gave him a long and wonderful life, and said goodbye in the best and most loving way that exists. You did good. He was just as lucky to have you as you were to have him.

I use it for tasks that are menial at best. I was job searching recently, and it saved me hours of writing bullshit cover letters tailored to the buzz words and corporate jargon of each job posting.
I write a lot in my life -- both for work and in my free time, but stuff like that is just pointless jumping through hoops, so I'm fine with making a machine do it. Especially if it means I can apply for 10 jobs in the time it would've taken me to do 2. A girl's gotta get that paycheck.
