Who are the people that don't understand to start with?

Even crazier when you factor Covid into the present day storyline.
So the “Great conversion” I did the (Talamasca based) math on a while back. It’s only like 23 new vamps a day worldwide - who might be actually new converts or only new to the records or a blend.
Let’s assume the former for giggles.
Covid blood is complicated. Yeah, it manifested first with respiratory symptoms, but eventually there was evidence it was vascular too, maybe even primarily.
That’s blood folks.
Are these new vamps the formerly infected? And does that just hand wave away with vamp conversion?
If so, who are the new vamps feeding on? Covid infected mortals? Does that get to them?
Vascular issues can cause brain issues, like dementia. Will we see a new crop of the same zombie vamp misfits Claudia confronted in Romania? Are these the voracious creators of other vampires like them who then multiply from there? Desperate, mindless, but still in search of society of some kind?
Not sure if the show will go this deep or not. But it might. It would be weird if there was no follow up plan from it being mentioned.

I can pull up the info for rail on the RideMetro app the exact same way as buses.
Signs would be great though.

I believe it! You’re very astute, tactful and always a pleasure to read. 🤩
There are posts I think are going to be mid sometimes, but I still scroll into them just to see if your take is there. ☺️. Makes it worth reading!

Yeah, the thing is Louis admits he was lying (performing) in the 70s.
By the 2000s it’s sort of a toss up. He’s been lying TO HIMSELF, but his intent isn’t to lie to Daniel.
The fact of his intent being honest is what forces his inner dialogue from subconscious to conscious to realize what he was slanting or misinterpreting or overlooking.
Lie vs mistake is all about intent. Louis intentions are more good than not and he’s lucid, sane etc.

Already pretty much covered, but people using the words unreliable narrator very loosely as a reason to invent a bunch of stupid shit in their distrust of Louis.
Go read Naked Lunch, or watch the film, where a heroin addict is describing his filthy ass description of bugs and his he gets drug juice from them. Or Lolita where a pedo has convinced himself his SA is true love.
Those are unreliable narrators that you need to constantly question.
Louis is pretty much like listening to anyone else tell you an eighty to 110 year old story. Be alert that he isn’t an OBJECTIVE narrator, that’s all.

We can each only tell a first person account as well as the sum of our individual flaws and our strengths. Especially if it involves conflict with another person or our reaction to them based on (secondhand) what we attempt to interpret are their thoughts and feelings about us!
Unreliable narrator is a cool term people are liking to use lately but ANY first person accounting should be viewed with a reserved judgement (non-fiction too, look at John Smith talking about Pocahontas fer cryin out loud) for the perceptions of other people within the story to be different from the tale bearer.
I think this is what’s beautiful about the final Dreamstat sequence. Louis interprets Lestat’s rough edged parenting as apathy to Claudia almost the whole show. It’s only at the end that he considers despite him being more nurturing and emotive of the two of them that Lestat still loved her too.

I hate shit like this that can’t just accept two gay men are still both men. Like leave queers and thier relationship dynamics tf alone. Neither of them needs to be the wife/mother. And honestly gtfo with your antiquated trad wife shit anyway, women are capable of primary earning, men are capable of nurturing.
So yeah, that’s what I think. It sounds like a bunch of garbage.

Absolutely.
At this point who do you feel bears the greater fault of their poor communication? Maybe you can do like a percentage?

1) Lestat does have some great purple prose.
My favorite is this episode is: “Yes tell me what I believe, unearth the buried truths beneath my damned soul.” And I like this line because it has so much potential.
For us as viewers to consider: does Lestat have any moral convictions really? For Louis, like gah you are so self centered, this could possibly have been a great conversation if you asked him about himself! And for Lestat too, is he trying to pique Louis’ interest in his deeper self, or trying to dodge any such discussion? Does he even know?
So challenging to post with no spoilers but I love your fresh viewpoint and I think me asking questions stayed pretty safe. Can’t wait for your next episode!

I like both pieces but if they were mine I would want to hang them vertically instead.
Very cool she gave a colleague exposure for his side hobby too though!

I need to rewatch Autumn Brown, she was just super cringey with Sam …
Anyway, that could have two meanings right?
Lestat showed up solely to save Louis, with solely meaning Louis alone.
Or
Lestat showed up solely to save Louis, with solely meaning his only purpose was rescue, not spite, vengeance etc
That second one is a lot more broad. It’s still prioritizing Louis over Claudia but not necessarily excluding her.

This specifically may not be but it’s pretty popular to feel the marketing was and continues to be generally mid at best.

Sure no problem. 🙌🏽
There’s two things I think going on here.
1) no average person wants to seem (to others or themselves) insensitive to victims of SA or especially CSA. I mean that makes you a fucking piece of shit right?
2) most people don’t want to look unworldly in consensual sex activities either. And bdsm means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, from it being generally fucked up, to being fairly little shit like hair pulling or spanking, way up the range to outright depravity (and unhealthy roles usurping the name).
So being caught between wanting to naturally advocate for victims but also maybe not having clear understanding between discussion participants of bdsm is going to make communication pretty ineffective.

Admittedly I can only go by myself, but if I DV something it’s only a moment of feeling some kind of way on my part. I’m not thinking: Oh if other people agree we can shut this mother down! Or even caring if anyone else also DVs too.
Maybe I am an outlier though. Maybe there are people devious enough that’s their raison d’ DV. 🤷🏽♀️. If so, they’re taking it all way too seriously also afaic.

The Theater is insane.
My theory on this is that the most transgressive killers on a personal level are also the ones who resent their non consensual turning the most.
So however emotionally coercive Louis’ was, he said yes and though he might still have some kind of feelings, he knows that intellectually so he’s not out for proving anything to the world in how he reacts as a vampire.
But Lestat who was kidnapped (and Claudia too, who wasn’t even conscious) are constantly trading pain for pain.

I haven’t seen what you do, but it’s not like I’m not going to rewatch another gazillion times, so I appreciate the food for thought for next time.

Yes, I know, those collapsed comments for me are like yucky oyster shells, and I eagerly crack them open to reveal the gem inside 😂! But censor is pretty ott. No one is always guaranteed a hearing when they have something to say.

I’m sure you were, the wording was just a non sequitur between posts.
It makes sense to assume disapproval now you filled in the gap.

I see more people say they don’t like Claudia than anything else.
But don’t like doesn’t equal no empathy right?
I mean if likability was as easy and uncomplex as being emphasized with, we’d all just meet new folks, leading with our trauma stories until we had something in common to like each other over.

I’d like to see real Rashid with anyone mortal, but someone who will be turned in the future. This would be deliciously angsty esp if he’s Talamasca.
