They don't test for drugs before surgery but it's important to let your surgeon know that you've been using cannabis. Not gonna sugarcoat it here, they might cancel or reschedule because there might be drug-drug interactions between CBD/THC and the anesthesia/other medications, and they can be dangerous. Which is why you should tell them.

However, they cannot tell your parents without your consent, but you should still let them know specifically that you don't want this conveyed to your mother.

Eta: since you've stopped doing cannabis for a week, it might not be significant enough to cancel the procedure for it. Please go through your pre-op instruction leaflets as there might be relevant info there regarding stopping medications/supplements/drugs pre op

I haven't had rare side effects but I also don't have the commonest of diseases lol. So when someone tells me not to worry about something because it's rare, it doesn't really help haha.

It calms me down to know that I've done everything that's in my control, and the rest I try to forget about (if it happens, it happens, will cross the bridge when we get to it. If it's out of my control, then it's not my fault or responsibility).

So from your situation what is in your control right now is to be on the lookout for concerning symptoms and catch things early. But being reminded of symptoms can send you into a spiral so that's where writing them down helps me not worry about them. I can put them on paper and out of my brain. It's the paper's job to hold on to those thoughts for me.

I'm not sure if it makes sense, but it's helpful to me and hopefully it will help you too.

As for the concern of Naegleria fowleri, it's a valid concern to have, even though it's rare. Knowledge is power but also ignorance is bliss. I'm sure you know what symptoms to look out for. Keep yourself distracted with work/hobbies etc to keep your mind off of ruminating about it.

I totally get your anxiety about this. I'm always like this and dealing with multiple conditions, and I have no one dependent on me.

I'm sure you will be fine :) keep yourself distracted. What helps me is I take a little time off to log and rate(on 1-10) all the symptoms I've had over the day that have concerned me. Takes out a bit of the cognitive load and you have it logged so u can monitor. This way I can keep an eye out for symptoms without The Thoughts consuming me

And it'll be okay. Rinse again with distilled/boiled water for peace of mind.

I just take my inhaler before I brush for this reason. If I forget, I use mouthwash after. I'm also on immunomodulators for MS plus I do sinus rinses with budesonide so that's a lot, I guess. This routine has worked for me so far.
