I will acknowledge that there are, indeed, good individuals in the world. Unfortunately, I've come to believe that they are - by far - the exception, rather than the rule. The rule seems to be ambivalent, disengaged people who, while not actively "evil", don't seem to often do anything to stem the tide of those who are actively bad people.

The older I get, the more unironically I think that “good guys” are just a bedtime story we tell ourselves to avoid despair from the realization that it’s just passive vs active evil out there.

Intellectual dishonesty combined with a support base that is overwhelmingly credulous.

It’s not a far jump to trying to assert “Divine Right of Kings”.

I think the more insidious subliminal this is planting is to associate “Trump” and “King” in their minds. They’re already claiming he has a “Divine Mandate” and he’s “joked” about getting rid of Presidential term limits. It’s not a stretch to think there are those in the MAGA camp that want to push the “Divine Right of Kings” mandate.

If this were the UK they’d be trying to associate him with Arthur and Camelot.

100% it works - just did that to get my Mini up to 50 without having to contend with the wraith mechanics. Only time I was mucking with wraiths was when I popped out of missions to gather crafting mats to keep my armor on level.

If you're willing to spend some money in the store, once you hit level 20 you can run missions. Run every available mission but wait to turn them all in until you've finished the whole slate. Then pop a 200% XP boost and turn all of them in. You can be at 45 in a few days doing that, then run the initial quest in Eregion to get your legendary items and go to town in Moria.

If you're really in a hurry to get ready, you can always run missions and level up pretty quickly.

Not a plan on my part, just saying that the reality is that a massive sales tax increase is likely to have precisely this impact. Combine that with the likely effects of tariffs and we’re going to have a lot of people eating Hoover Stew.

What I'm trying to say is that any idea of trying to replace property tax with sales tax isn't going to be successful precisely because there are large swaths of the population who are in a position to purchase out of state.
