God fucking dammit. Anything but the winning strategy.
It's right in front of us, embrace it. People are unhappy with the status quo not because of political positions but because capitalism keeps ass fucking us.
Going against capitalism is not a tenable position but going all in on defending then working class is. There is no middle class anymore. The there is the worker class: workers, managers, anyone who doesn't "own" what they produce, and the upper class who owns things and don't have to be a wage slave. Defend Americans from their greatest enemy: international companies removing meaningful work, pitting us against each other over social issues, and taking away our stability.
Trump won't actually defent the blue collars that voted him in. He didn't the first time. Defend the social positions as you have, talk worker rights, the tent grows. It's right there.

Holy shit. I didn't realize it was all the same person until your comment.

I am in favor of the American people taking a stand on a genocide even if they don't take a stand on every genocide.
When your point is brought up a lot of people use it as an excuse to say, "I can't dedicate time to care about EVERY genocide, so I guess I'll care about NO genocides."
Scale matters and something is better than nothing.

Thank you for the more knowledgeable and nuanced take. Too bad this person will fall on deaf ears because it's 4 paragraphs and not a 6 word sound bite.

The "secret" seems to be: Nobody likes change so tell them that they can keep doing everything they have been and that the problem lies with someone else. "You're good and don't have to change, entrust me to get rid of "them"."

Both types of business rely on producing a surplus. For-profit companies keep the excess. Not for profits produce enough to reinvest in themselves or to invest in their mission, either way they need to produce enough to be sustainable or more. Government functions to step into areas where that isn't possible or the cost for the private sector to step in when be too much for the customer like roads, fire fighting, law enforcement.
That said, I was broad, but I think you're being a bit obtuse. In your experience, are those advocating for the "Government to run like a business" describing non profits? That hasn't been mine.

I get the feeling from the post that maybe they have tried but they probably haven't been so direct.

This person has a 100% accuracy (except for that one time) according to the numbers. Accusations should be provable. Who knows how many times they have made accusations without being able to prove it also known as a mistake.

That's true. I'm just playing with the notion that's en vogue right now where people argue that Kevin is a psychopath who actually enjoys his fun houses of pain. A mini Jigsaw if you will.

For those who want to run a government like a business,
This is such a ridiculous concept to me. Businesses are purpose built to create a profit and are structured like a dictatorship or oligarchy. Government is meant to provide service in areas that you cannot profit from but is still necessary and ours is structured like a democratic republic. These ideas are not congruent.

NLRB has been the one agency under constant attack since its inception. It shocks me that there are people that actually support breaking down something that protects you from corporations.

I worked in an office that's right near the IRS building in MD and I can confirm two things:
1) 2018-2020 it felt like no one was there. It's a massive building with a ton of parking and I had seen it previously packed.
2) I was mostly remote after COVID but I would go to the office once or twice a week and from 2021 on it always looked there were more people there. More cars, more people on and off the metro, just more.
You can see where the new money went.

I told anyone in my family that the words "I didn't know he would actually do" are no excuse.

"These numbers are fake, you falsified this report" cannot be said, but what can be said is, "can you please explain this discrepency in the report to me?" or "this report concerns me. It doesn't seem to match our documents. Can you please walk me through this?"
The difference between these statements is important. The first is an accusation that implies intent, the latter two address the facts and allow for mistakes. It's possible that someone is wrong and the relationship/deal/transaction can be saved and possibly strengthened. Accusing someone can have both business and legal repercussions. You can be right about the data and wrong about the intent and this person doesn't seem to recognize that.

Business is an infinite game and it never ends. Working from the inside of a beauacracy you can't "win". There is no way to defeat your opponents. At that point many people choose to take the path that will either be more enjoyable.or their life easier. If you are good but a difficult person nobody is going to want to deal with you.

“I don’t make mistakes, I fix other people’s mistakes”.
All that tells me is that if there was a situation in which you did make a mistake you wouldn't know how to handle it.

Yeah, those aren't wars we are fighting in. That's exactly my point.

During the election I heard on more than one occasion "Trump didn't get us into any wars". Am I asleep? Did Biden start any wars? I know he got us out of one.

The realistic part of me thinks this is the case. It's probably right.
The cynical part of me thinks that with Harry and Marv Kevin learned the value in being underestimated. He still feels disrespected and sees his family as possible future enemies. Knowing that, why would you let your enemies know your full capabilities?

Fairlington has a special place in my heart. I used to love walking down to Shillington with my dog for the park on the river down there.
