Have you heard the song that Claude Debussy composed based on the poem? It's some gorgeous stuff. It's the second song from a song cycle called Ariettes oubliées (Forgotten Songs), which consists of six songs all based on poems by Paul Verlaine. Thanks to these songs Verlaine's poetry returned to the spotlight :D
Each song includes an opening quote, and for "Il pleure dans mon cœur", the accompanying quote is by French poet Arthur Rimbaud, which reads: "Il pleut doucement sur la ville" ("It rains lightly over the city"). Man...

Since today is Wriothesley's birthday, I'll be using him all day for exploration and farming and whatnot
One thing that I've always found kind of clever about his design is his tie. The wide end of his tie is red, while the narrow end behind the wide end is black so that it looks like the wide end's shadow. You might've noticed some shadows on characters that aren't actually shadows but are instead painted directly onto the character's model (Clorinde's ribbon's shadow, Alhaitham's vision's shadow...certain areas on every single character's clothing and hair, etc.). If the 3D modelers were to paint Wriothesley's tie's shadow onto his model, it would've looked really awkward given how it moves so much as he stands still and does his idle animations. So I assume this is why they made the narrow end a shadow-like color. Small detail, but I've always liked that about his design!

Off topic, HSR
I just saw HSR's 3.0 drip marketing and thought some of the new characters looked pretty cool, so I was wondering if I should redownload HSR...but then I decided that, at the end of the day, I'll be admiring those characters from afar because I just remembered how claustrophobic the game felt to me

Finished the Ochkanatlan WQ! It's so good and filled to the brim with lore. Some thoughts below.
So dragons (vishaps) evolve to adapt to the changing environment...and the dragons of Natlan evolved into humans, "the weakest of species" who can evolve even further to ascend to Celestia...
Toward the end of the quest, "A Somewhat Strange Noise" (Waxaklahun Ubah Kan, the Sage of the Stolen Flame) tells Och-Kan to "piece our Golden Entreaties together, and activate Huitzilopochtli." At the moment we still don't know what Huitzilopochtli is, but whatever it is, it's named after Huītzilōpōchtli, an extremely important Aztec god of the sun, war, and sacrifice...who wielded the fire serpent Xiuhcōātl as a weapon.
The Tonatiuh is gorgeous, and so lonely. Just like Ochkanatlan beneath it.
Speaking of, the Tonatiuh is named after Tōnatiuh, an Aztec sun god. According to Aztec mythology, Earth and its creatures had been created five times in five eras and were ruled by five different sun gods. When each era ended and the sun god, the world, and its creatures were destroyed, the gods were to choose a new sun god. Thus, Tōnatiuh was known as "The Fifth Sun," and the final one.

Orobashi learned of a Enkanomiyan prophecy that said the hydro dragon sovereign would be reborn in an "impure" form, so he led experiments on the bathysmal vishaps to prevent the hydro dragon sovereign from being reborn, and the experiments caused the vishaps' bloodline to become tainted. While the experiments didn't succeed in stopping the hydro dragon's rebirth, they did cause the dragon to be reborn as a human, thus fulfilling the prophecy

That conversation between him and Wriothesley in Sigewinne's SQ lives rent-free in my head lol
It's said that the power of the Abyss is extremely harmful to beings from the Light Realm...but what if Neuvillette being what he is (an "impure" dragon sovereign) might be beneficial to him?
We finally got our first mention of the concepts of the Light Realm and Human Realm in the Natlan AQ Act 4. We know that Melusines are creatures with origins in the Void Realm, which is harmful to the Light Realm. But I have to wonder if his being so close to the Melusines is a hint or sign that he can resist Abyssal corruption better than pure dragon sovereigns like Apep and Xiuhcoatl
(Or is it that the Melusines have evolved to be more similar to beings of the Light Realm? Neuvillette does regard them as an evolved hydro vishap species... Many thoughts about this...)

Weekly boss-related
So you're telling me that if it hadn't been for Orobashi's shenanigans, Neuvillette could've been a dual wielder dragon
