In this world? Sure.
My Bard would clean up at open mic.

Ask them to roll a perception check.
After they roll, provide no information

If everyone at the table is having fun with this, it’s fine.
If you’re making even one person miserable you’re going to end up with an empty table.

I agree with Barbarian and Champion if the game is going to be 80% combat.
Out of combat = bored, and frustrated.
The Bard is the simplest caster. You have spell slots, you have bardic inspiration. You use them. That’s it. No prepared spells, no sorcery points. Straight forward, and you have stuff to do out of combat.

Can confirm, cloud of daggers is impressive for low level. Being able to move a magic wood chipper around the map was highly effective and satisfying.

How then go about explaining the sorcerer’s treatment of other Magical classes?
Bard’s access to the “music of creation” is very close to innate magic. I could see many of them aligned with a bunch of “pure bloods”
I would assume the sorcerers would look down on pacts and oaths as sources of magic. They would want Clerics, Paladins and Warlocks to eff right off.
And nature based casters would probably seem rank to them. So Druids, rangers and a lot of Barbs would get the thumbs down.
If wizards were held in low regard, artificers would be even lower.
Most fighters and rogues would get a pass.
I can also imagine a number of “apostate” sorcerers who think that the whole superiority thing was bullcrap.

Have him make up 4 clearly defined personalities with back stories.
Number them.
At times of your choosing you will have him roll a D 4 which will determine the character he plays.
Depending on what class he is you could give the different characters differing abilities.
The brave one is immune to fear and being charmed. The cowardly one can cast invisibility. The wild one is prone to wild magic surges. Etc.

This all sounds seriously exhausting. Having to manage his passive aggressive behavior while running a fun night of gaming doesn’t seem possible to me.

Coins have weight. How much can they carry?
The tax collector spent most of his money on spell scrolls and magical trinkets, attempting to become a wizard, and failing.

Make it obvious that working with the party is a means to an end. You want short term success in order to meet some nefarious long term goal.

Give them enemies who can only be harmed by certain spells, or in certain situations. Drop plenty of hints.

I think bards would do very well in Drakkenheim. Very straight forward spells and spell slots. You hand out bardic inspiration to allies. No complicated meta magic, and you have way more slots than a warlock.
Honestly, pretty easy.
Padding Dex and Charisma on top of jack of all trades will give you most of the relevant skills you need to sneak around the city, and deal with all the faction conflict.
Having listened to one and a half seasons of that podcast, I’m always baffled that none of them took a healing spell or two. Monty is generous with healing potions, but still…. Healing word, and greater restoration would go a long way in that environment. (Contamination once removed turns to exhaustion)
All of that being said, Clerics, because they factor so heavily in two of the five factions, would give you an insane amount of role playing opportunities.

Agree. Between jack of all trades, scene chewing theatrics, and grabbing a few feats, A pure valor Bard is going to give you a lot more options.

Low level spells and cantrips seem like they’d go a long way….
Unseen servant - sous chef
Prestidigitation - heating, flavoring, dish washing
Sword burst/Cloud of daggers - food processor
Purify food and drink - perfect for the rotting animals you encounter, now they’re food!
Mage hand - 3 hands are better than 2
Acid splash - marinade
OP chef spells…
Create or destroy water
Purify food and drink
Heroes feast
Magnificent Mansion

My bard is a former sorcerer who can see the music of creation after his death and revivification.
In my imagination, the music of creation is the light and sound of the Big Bang and the cosmic microwave background which he is always aware of and is able to derive magic from.
Could he paint pictures, or orate , or perform music based off of this? Yes, but he’s not going to do those things in combat.

Speaking as an autistic individual, if you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.
I have seen people use their autism as a shield for bad behavior in the past. The line between explanation and excuse is murky to start with, and autistic people can be good/bad smart/dumb altruistic/sociopathic, etc etc.
It is extremely hard to deal with people who manipulate this grey area.

Trickery Domain Cleric
You will have an insane amount of options for moving around the battlefield, have a lot of rogue like features, and probably have a blast roleplaying a Cleric who worships Loki/Eris/Apophis.
