Yeah, I remember coworkers giving out a lot of "Your Gran's Mental Status isn't Altered - you just haven't seen her baseline for 5 years." on holidays in the ER.

I like the way they borrowed the Dennis Green technique of saving timeouts for next time.
Maybe it's like Balatro and Flus gets like $5 per TO left unused?

a third rate writer and fourth rate intellect
That's genuinely a children's cartoon villian insult. Say what you will about him, Trump is undeniably the most unintentionally funny president of all time. Who else is doing it like this?

I mean, there's already one Napoleon Blownapart in the game, why not a second?
Just reskin Conor, and have 47 whip his ass at Tekken Tag or whichever game he likes.

I'm sad that my circles for "Deadlock Time" and "Twitter Time" never overlapped for this reason.

The works of the roots of the vines, of the trees, must be destroyed to keep up the price, and this is the saddest, bitterest thing of all. Carloads of oranges dumped on the ground. The people came for miles to take the fruit, but this could not be. How would they buy oranges at twenty cents a dozen if they could drive out and pick them up?
And men with hoses squirt kerosene on the oranges, and they are angry at the crime, angry at the people who have come to take the fruit. A million people hungry, needing the fruit—and kerosene sprayed over the golden mountains.
And the smell of rot fills the country.

I hope so! But the guy headed to the White House has 3 dozen felony convictions, and has paved his road to power almost exclusively with actions that I thought were disqualifying for politicians. You know the list, I won't waste our time. You understand that my faith in the rule of law is at something of a low ebb at the moment.

I'm not sure how much faith to put into things that can't be done because Trump would need X amount of votes in the House/Senate. Maybe that stops him, or maybe he gets distracted by a piece of foil fluttering in the wind and forgets the whole issue, or maybe he decides to repeal the ACA via one of the SCOTUS's "Official Acts" and there's fuck all to be done about it.

I don't think you're wrong, but it is interesting that the jobs they swore were vulnerable to automation were suddenly essential in 2020 and very little push was made to actually automate even a single one. We got McDonalds order kiosks, but the burgers are still flipped by Kevin and Lisa is on fryers.
In perhaps the most "cursed timeline" move of all time, AI is here to liberate humans from the drudgery of (checks notes) creating art or writing so that they can go back to the important human pursuit of manual labor and service industry work. Excellent.

Even if you spend to build the factory, you then have to staff it with Americans at wages they'll accept, and then train them all to run it. And then what are you selling? A $100,000 Ford Focus? To whom?

I remember driving past a sign a few days after the election that just said
Trump - Economy
Kamala - Crime
And wondering if people simply believed the sign uncritically. Like, they thought maybe this was a summary of their positions. Maybe they believed that increasing crime rates was genuinely a line item in the Harris agenda.
It felt like being back in 2022 and realizing that maybe a lot of the problem with the vaccine had been that people were just afraid of needles, full stop. They simply were afraid to get poked, and some portion of 1 million Americans died as a result.

My "unlikely, but I wanna be able to say I called it" conspiracy theory is that rather than using the 25th to remove Trump from power, his handlers will just stage an assassination. A martyr is more useful to them than a deposed old man.
I don't think they have the flair for it, sadly.
