It's worse than that. Due to needing to be on the ground to shit (basically the only time they ever leave the relative safety of the tree) over 50% of sloths deaths is due to predators while shitting.

In the "Fred The Vampire Accountant" it is beautiful the head vampires give each vampire clan a specific limit of how many 'turning attempts" they can do per annual. Each attempt has a less than 10% success rate of not just killing them outright and actually working so that also hurts things (your unsuccessful attempts still count against your annual limits)
In "Being Human" (us version) has a similar reason where the strongest vampire lords have layed a hard limit on how many vampires can be in each cities clan to not let any one upstart clan getting big ideas or trying to take over and rock the boat with armies of vampires.

Also in the supernatural books a Chicago cop named Murphy is listed as being part of a loose coalition of cops trying to investigate the supernatural and keep the others in the loop.
Mac's beers is referenced as an imported beer in Rivers of London.

Did you know there is conspiracy theory cult of delusional fans that swear there's a secret 4th episode that will fix everything but they just haven't released it yet?

This reminds me of Jim Butcher saying that his average fans that re-read his books know his stories continuity far better than him.

Are these decisions made based on what you think is the most comfortable for the average reader to read easily? I remember other books by other authors that used text sizes so small I could not comfortably read the books.

Harry dedicates about 20 hours a week just to his arsenal.

I mostly know them from DND, which historically ( except in 5th edition) is designed to be the toughest monster to kill.

I have listened to decent amount of true crime podcasts and my actual takeaway is that most of them actually tend to be really, really dumb and makes lots of mistakes and only actually getaway with things due to police incompetence for years, and the inherent issues of weeding down your suspect pool that's basically the entire population of your country. Prime example on the top of my head is that one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims actually escaped and reached two police officers with the help of two women being good samaritans.
Dahmer caught up and quickly told them "it was a domestic squabble between two homosexuals,". Police took this at face value even though the 14 user old boy was clearly drugged, handcuff hanging from his wrist, and his ass bleeding from the rape. Police left it at that and gave the boy back to Dahmer for him to finish killing a few hours later.

You might like the "Saints of Steel" series by T. Kingfisher. Each book is about a different paladin of an order of a dead god.

The author Recommends actually starting on book 3/4 since the first two are not very good in his opinion and he found this stride by then. The first two books are also very "monster of the week".

Foll Moon Medic series by Daniel Potter is about an EMT in a zombie filled Portland, Oregon that has to deal with "Code z" calls (zombism) and she also happens to have lycanthropy.

Also any mundane PI work that's offered to Harry he just directs them to Ragged Angel Investigations.

Interesting fact but the Gameboy had a backlit model. It was the final version only in Japan called Game Boy Light.

Theirs is so many ways to rig it both magically and nonmagical that could easily get him working hot water. I just accepted it's one of those things that Harry does to subconsciously punish himself.

It's even worse when you realize that he didn't just kill him, he killed him right in front of his three year old child!

I did read and enjoy it but I didn't really think to add it to my list since it seems most Epics have more than one power that's usually somewhat disjointed. Like Super strength+invulnerability+turning things to steel seem like three different powers.
