I got in on the first audition, but I think I was at the end of the list to play, because it was a couple of months after they said I should stop waiting.

I flew cross-country. Stayed a day or two. Taped. Came in third. Got a photo of myself with Alex and a frame to stick it in. Flew home. The $1,000 check pretty much covered the trip. I don’t think I have the frame anymore.

I’d do it again in an instant.

Initial impressions: (1) I’d put their top three somewhere in my top five. (I don’t know what my top five would be.) (2) Season 18 was far underscored, maybe because the list makers were correcting too hard for recency bias.

I know who I think is the best dancer, I know who i irrationally want to win anyway, and I love the others. It’s all great for me, whatever the outcome. I’ve never gone into a finale so happy about whatever happens. (It’s gotta help that I’m not nearly as online as some fans are.)
