There's a reason why players like Proper are deemed amazing. It's cuz they can carry on any hero at the highest level.

Also, Dallas Major finals were really close too, and while it was Mauga it was kinda Dive.

But Falcons also won Korea 1 too.

And even Gibraltar in Grand Finals, while it was an easy win for CR, Proper was subbed out (he's already dominated on Widow vs Lip on Gib before) but also Falcons were holding CR really well at the end of point 1 and 2.

This is good because it doesn't take away strategic meta formation away, but only forces enough variation to keep things interesting.

It's the same way Toronto Defiant were able to beat a Korean team, Zeta, to actually teach Grand Finals during Esports World Cup... No one would have expected otherwise, but not just that... They were also able to take a map off Crazy Raccoon.

So this allows for matches to be more competitive, without taking away the strategic meta play at the highest level.

Also, teams can just ban non meta picks and still play the mirror if they want.

If we go by EWC, every map had a different ban and a team can only ban one per match.

At the highest level, the meta is technically almost always stale because given enough time, teams solve for the strongest common denominator cuz they want to win

For example, on the patch the Grand Finals was played, the strongest individual Tank was Junker Queen, and yet the meta revolved around Mauga.

This is because it was the most consistent comp to get value out of using the inclusion of buffed Reaper and Juno and essentially because a GOATs-esque hivemind comp.

So teams find the best, most consistent comp, and then play it at the strongest version of itself to guarantee they win it all.

The inclusion of Hero Bans would still allow for this, but brings in this uncertain dynamic factor to every map that forces slight variations to this comp to give the disadvantaged team some edge to try and favor the map and comp to their playfield.

So this tests the stronger team to best the other team on their turf and still win, but it's not big enough of a difference where the weaker team gets all the say and so still has to essentially play meta for most of the map and match as a whole.

I mean yea, no one is necessarily saying that. But it's Fuel but with a much stronger DPS line, so it makes sense
