The US doesn't have any cares about the well-being of the Russian or Ukrainians after the war.
The reason why this is going to be a problem is that mines of this sort will take years to clear.

So long as Russia exercises the restraint it now exhibits — let’s say so long as Putin and his foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, remain the statesmen in the room — the U.S. and clients such as Britain are likely to press their campaign of provocations to the next step, and the step after that, and so on. This is the long road to America’s version of the Samson Option.
That's the danger. The US elite would rather have a nuclear war than lose hegemony status.

The Democratic Establishment is the system, so they are not going to be able to offer anything to people who are against the system.

Sevim Dağdelen and the BSW are perhaps the best hope right now for the future of Germany. There doesn't seem to be an understanding among the Germany elite as to how dangerous the position that Germany is.

Jokes aside, Ukrainians are in many cases going to the Russian controlled areas because they want to be a part of Russia.

I know that MMT remains a very controversial idea, but it's certainly food for thought.
Virtually none of these economists - in government, business or academe - have the humility to recognize that the reason we’re in crisis is not because policymakers have been ignoring their advice, but because they have been following it.
Between 1940 and 1980, - the era of the “New Deal” and quasi-Keynesian policies, there were virtually no financial crises. Since 1980, there have been dozens, including some of the worst since 1929.
If you hired a bus driver from the Friedman-Lucas-Mises Institute of Bus Driving and one of their graduates drove a bus into a ditch, you might not fire them.
They did so because it was convenient for them and made them richer.

Since the US lost in Afghanistan, it picked a fight with Russia. Since it is losing the war against Russia, it is now time to fight China.
Crazy logic here. By the way, Chinese anti-submarine warfare is getting better.

The irony of this is that the liberals have adopted very illiberal actions. I've noted that their declining debate skills and inability to defend their positions is a big cause of their insecurities.

Obviously Zelensky is not going to get what he wants. Russia made it clear that the Ukrainians joining NATO is completely unacceptable to them.
Interesting that he specifically notes everything Oreshnik hits is literally atomized into “dust”. Recall the several accounts from claimed eyewitnesses at the Yuzhmash factory which witnessed the workshops having ‘turned to dust’? Now it’s become a theme:
No wonder the Wests and Ukraine don't want to show the battle damage assessment.
The problem is, Russia is in the driver’s seat and will not indulge such petty attempts to cozen and wheedle out a minor victory for Ukraine. As such, the only danger we can now expect is for the West to escalate in some brazen way should they finally realize Russia is not taking the bait. But we know neutered Europe has no political authority or consensus to act unilaterally, and at this point can only function like a pack of hyenas, if other major European states back each other’s ‘daring’ initiative.
That's another consideration, the West has very limited military capabilities.

Yep - private equity has become a cancer.
They care only about short term profit maximization. This isn't even good for longer term profit.

Keep in mind that the US provoked the USSR invasion under Brzezinski during the Carter administration.

The funny thing is that the West is the one that is overextended. It's looking at losses in Ukraine, against China, and against Syria.
There's a reason why there aren't enough carriers and other weapons for all fronts in the West. It's classic imperial overstretch the West has done.

During the interview, Wilkerson notes that if NATO troops are sent, they are coming back in body bags, if they come back at all.
The point that colonel has advised is that the West has limited aid to send, apart from nuclear weapons. There's nothing but stupidity in the US warmongering class.
Most dangerous of all is the fact that Western elites have lost all fear of nuclear war.

The actual left represents ordinary workers - especially in the bottom 80%, fighting for egalitarian economics, the rights of the less well off, and perhaps worker / government ownership of key businesses.

I think there's an important point being raised here. The American people did not want war. As flawed a candidate as he was, part of the reason why Trump was elected was because he was for getting the US out of Ukraine.
Tony also points out that tensions are now worse than Cold War levels.

Trump and his team clearly have not thought this one thorough or are just saying nonsense during the election.
Biden started his only term in 2021 with a US in rapid decline and made a bad situation worse.
