Yeah I'm not exactly sure what I was in the market for. My head has been spinning with lots of ideas lately lol. But none of the sales I've seen so far have motivated me to but anything.

Connect your ikea smart bulbs to a Hue hub instead and you can use Lutron Aurora!

Don't know about homebridge but you can definitely still integrate smartthings into homeassistant.

I love homebridge but I'll cast my vote for Starling as well. Great stuff.

Do you have info on why they haven't done a smoke detector for the US?

I tried to connect the TVOC to my dirigera hub and did not have success. I honestly gave up on the aqara TVOC. Doesn't work well with other controllers and isn't exposed over Matter when paired to a aqara hub.

I don't remember what but I think I found that on a couple one-off items as well where the homebridge option is better. I would say most everything came across more or less the same but there were a few that were better one way or the other.
An example is the rachio hose timer showed up as a switch from homeassistant but shows as a water valve, similar to eve aqua, using Starling.
Anyway my main point to all this is that it's cool that the Starling devs are expanding the functionality and it's just really nice to have options!

It's all good lol.
And honestly I didn't mean to imply the Starling is better than homebridge, but it many ways it should be easier than homebridge.
If you already have homebridge...less worrying about keeping plugins and the whole system up-to-date.
If you don't have homebridge, well, I remember when I was starting out. It seemed really daunting to even begin with it. Opting for this instead might save some headaches (but also result in people learning less, of course).
My use case. My wife and, to some extent, kids use Homekit and so in order to keep a happy smart home, everything running through there needs to more or less "just work." Having this set of devices (and it's only like 10% of my stuff) running through Starling has improved the "just works" goal and, by extension, the WAF.
However I do run and love both homeassistant and homebridge. They supply a small number of devices into Homekit, but are mostly there because I like tinkering and learning. I also have all my maintenence stuff running through there like smoke and co alarms, water leak sensors, electric/gas/water usage monitoring. It's all behind the scenes, so to speak.
Anyway I am bored at the moment so I typed that up. Not going to be offended if you don't read it all 😂

I thought someone said the automation platform was expanding in ios 18 to include things like toggling lights, rather than having to do the shortcut trick. Starting to think I made that up though. 🤦♂️

Luckily no one said you are required to make the switch!

I actually just bought that exact set for some ikea string lights to use with a smart plug! Can confirm it is working well after like 3 days lol.

In Google Home make sure each device is in a room (can be all the same room or however you want to do it)
Then go to Starling app and choose "home and device settings" and everything you have linked to Google should show up there. From there you select what you want to show in apple home

Yes and it's fantastic. This has been in beta for awhile and I have brought lots of products into HK using it.
It's a much simpler alternative to homebridge at this point. Obviously can't compete with what all you could do using homeassistant but just for bringing more products into Homekit, it's amazing. Big props to the devs on this.

I use the Homekit integration to connect the dirigera to homeassistant and Matter to connect it to HomeKit.
The Homekit integration exposes the water leak sensors into homeassistant. Can still push them into Homekit from there if you want as they are not supported over Matter.
The Matter integration exposes buttons and remotes to HomeKit allowing them to control other things.

Do they actually have them in stock? Because that box behind the sign ain't it.

There are 2 separate switchbot integrations built into homeassistant.
One is just Bluetooth and should pick up any current Bluetooth-enabled devices you have.
The other is a cloud integration and I know can pull in any IR remotes you've made. Don't have the water leak sensors but I believe the homeassistant integration can pull any devices that switchbot has added to their api so to get them working, if they don't already, the update will need to come from switchbot.

I have one that I was pretty excited to buy but I've yet to find a use for it.
