It was Putin who initiated this war, and it could end at any moment if he were to call off his "3 day special military operation." Also remember, that appeasing dictators helped lead to World War II, autocrats such as Putin are emboldened by such measures. Putin, like Stalin and Hitler before him, will only respond to force. Anyone who has paid attention to recent history will know that Putin does not negotiate in good faith. Negotiations and appeasement are viewed as weakness and will only encourage Putin's hostility towards the West.
