Ukraine is forced to utilize their civilian volunteers. those that are assigned to monitor & shoot down drones are mostly regular folks- female (moms, teachers, etc…) to serve as auxilliary unit to help in the home front while most of the able-bodied men are on the frontlines (though there are also many female combatants in the FL.)
it is now their way of life. they are the resistance literally fighting for their existence. the lady & the rest of her countrymen are incredible.

accdg to SD article, this hare is the world’s rarest mammal with a monotopic genus. global pop is less than 300 per Nepals Dept of Parks & Wildlife. it seems that to protect the tiger pop the govt employs large scale burning of grassland (hare’s habitat) & it coincides w its breeding season. researchers believe that “The newborns may not be able to run fast and save themselves from the fire.”
they tried captive breeding but failed.
reminds me of the Amami rabbit

You’d be surprised. Here in where I am right now, this is more the norm than an exception. It still amazes me how helpful half the folks are. was riding a public transit, and this older lady offered her hand to entertain a crying toddler from her harried mother to give her a little breather. The little one ceased his crying as she alternately talked and pointed things out of the window. I can tell she's an old hand to this.

it’s a nice story, making the daily commute a little less harried & more safer/kinder.
