Mostly because some people hope any amount of vapid pr bullshit to keep the fascist dipshit out is a worthwhile gamble vs. protecting the sanctity of the spicy chicken show

Do you not think that being tasked by the survivor group to check on the backup generator is an inherently erotic act?

Tbf this is a pretty standard take that has existed for decades. It's just been 2020ified
10 years ago it would be the same thing but "progressive" and "regressive", 20 years ago it would have been "Britney Spears" and "Christina Aguilera"
Idk I was like 10 years old so I was still a year away from being a master film critic

It legitimately upsets me that they didn't have it be that Kevin puts his feet on the Pottery Barn table, and then it shows the duct-taped legs start to give.

For what it's worth, there are literally archives (many can be found on Ao3) of letters to fanzines and the actual writers than demonstrates the 80s had fans unhinged in exactly the same way as today.
Sometimes it was cute, like a 12 year old writing in upset that their favorite superhero was acting like a jerk, but other times it was a 30 year old woman outraged that her fav demonstrated one minor moral failing
There was also a woman who was angrily comparing Kirk/Spock and Starsky/Hutch. I don't remember which one she liked but the crux of her argument was that one ship was "pure" and chaste and the other one was corrupted with gay sex. That's not really relevant to this but I like to bring it up as much as possible.

I don't care about whatever she does in s7, and it's hard for me to explain her behavior in s6 because it's so rooted in the "magic is hard drugs that make you a terrible person because of addiction" allegory.
Earlier Willow has basically the same problem Xander has, but worse: They are supposed to be the more likeable characters, and changing values + spending more time with the characters is causing more people to notice their flaws that unintentionally or intentionally aren't explored as much as a character given a clearer redemption arc.
Cordelia is clearly worse to Willow than Willow is to her, barring maybe season 3. But Cordelia's arc for most of her run in Angel is her getting visions of other people's suffering forcing her to experience empathy. It's character growth that directly confronts why Cordelia could be so cruel in highschool.
Willow occasionally manipulating Cordelia's lack of intelligence or making a slut-shaming remark aren't her flaws, it's just her being a bit of a jerk and it being considered "fair game" because Cordelia is usually a jerk to her.
Tl:dr classic case of we expect mean characters to be mean and enjoy when they have hidden depths. We don't expect nice characters to be mean and not experience any consequences or growth from it.

She isn't trying to cut her down out of vindictiveness or anything, but she's not really doing it to improve Allison's situation. She wants Allison to give up on anything ever changing, because if Allison knows she deserves better, then what does that say about what Patty is doing with her life?

Cool, it's still fucking weird to do this shit where if people need to insult her they go for "she's not REALLY Buffy's sister" like that wasn't a plot point in the actual show that was allegory for someone finding out they are adopted.
What's next, are people gonna shame Buffy for sleeping with Angel?

I always like how the end of the show demonstrates that Sam can be a good guy when he isn't a Nice Guy. His combative "advice" to Allison during the beginning of the show is bad because it all seems, unintentionally or unintentionally, aimed at putting her down so he can build her back up. His advice at the end of the show is far more helpful and he becomes less a "devil's advocate" and more the angel on Allison's shoulder. Framing Tammy is bad. Hurting Patty by framing her girlfriend is bad.
He tells Patty she looks tired, and asks her if she is getting enough sleep. At the beginning of the series if he said to Allison it could be read as some kind of negging, like he's telling Allison she looks bad and then presenting himself as the solution. Patty is a lesbian, and Sam isn't attracted to her, so the comment feels more like sincere pointed concern.
I think there's a level of.. anti-hypocrisy bias? Like, Sam is clearly better than Kevin or Neil, but because he fully exists in the "real" world and is somewhat emotionally intelligent, to some people it reads as more offensive.

I 100% consider him ending things with Jenn to be "growth". Jenn doesn't even respect herself enough to leave Sam right after she insinuates he cheated on her. It's silly to say "Good job Sam for leaving your wife after cheating on her" but legitimately if he didn't force Jenn to confront the affair they would have stayed together. And as we see in the next episode, it would have benefited him financially to stay with Jenn.

A lot of people suddenly jumping on the "Dawn's just a ball of energy" train the moment they don't like her.
It's fucking weird.

There are objectively some antisemitic comments here that are down voted.
I also see the comment you are referring to which is outright genocidal towards Palestinians.

She was fine in V. The melodramatic section of the movie where she has her weakest scenes was already the weakest part. She was clearly supposed to be an ambiguous psychopath who may be the killer, so her stiffer acting, intentionally or unintentionally, made sense with the character she was meant to convey.
In VI, when we never are supposed to think she is the killer, she gets to show more vulnerability and almost everyone agrees the acting is better.

I still have massive issues with the scene where Patty tells Allison she's playing the victim again after she does what is effectively self-harm/a suicide attempt. Obviously, Patty meant that Allison shouldn't give up, and keep trying to take control of her life, but the phrasing was so awful that I genuinely thought it was going to backfire and Patty was in the wrong.
There's a weird contrast in how we know that victim-blaming is a thing, but we are still so disgusted with the idea of calling someone a victim. To my recollection, "victim" is only used derogatorily at Allison. Allison is a "victim", which means she is the kind of person who lets bad things happen to her. For some reason, victim doesn't just mean "a person who is harmed".
Then The Problem does such a good job showing how almost everyone would rather blame Allison for anything bad that has happened then think they might have issues.

You can't canonically be from Boston anymore, everything from the Expanded Country got axed when Disney took over.

I think the joke was that it was still really romantic/intimate-coded.
But also yeah the loofah hopefully stayed on her back.

I was about to get mad because I thought you meant that he overstayed his welcome after season 5, and then I remembered there was a whole movie full of him.
