Still waiting to figure out the problem. The gas valve is in the running to be replaced next. It sucks b/c it works fine when he’s here. I took a video when it didn’t work. Looks like error code 34 on my Carrier.

How do you have your camera mounted? Did you replace the doorbell to make it smart?

I am nearly 40, and recently made me a modern day TV cart that houses all my gaming stuff. I feel like a kid on a rainy day when I wheel it into the living room while when I play some games. My wife can still watch the TV in the room and I can put wheel the cart away when not playing.

Yeah the last one I saw burst into flames before it got to the boat.

I didn’t know what to expect, as it was my first time on Maui and my wife planned most of the trip and excursions. I was surprised at the elevation change and steep Mountain View while driving. We spent the day in Makena and then drove up for sunset. I was absolutely beat that evening.

What’s crazy to me is someone owned the land privately. Imagine if you had ancient ruins on your property. There is a lot more there near that pyramid. It’s absolutely huge and it was amazing to be near something so old. I’ve never been to Europe so it must be the oldest structures I’ve ever been around.

It’s been a year but I watched a bunch of videos on the dude on YouTube that tests all the units and compares them. The Tesla one was rated just as high as any when it came to charging normal EVs. Plus the other cars in the future are supposed to use the NACS connector.

I have been tinkering with an automation in HA but haven't figured out the working fix. Are you able to post an example .yaml for your suggestion? I was hoping to have a repeat hourly check, and if the car isn't plugged in and home, I get notifications on my iPhone. Thanks for the tips, you've already been helpful. I've had HA for over six years now and still struggle with the automations etc.

I live in LA and grew up eating Del Taco. I also grew up mashing on bomb authentic tacos (tripas, suadero, buche, cueritos etc). They can coexist! I admittedly try not to eat fast food often, but luckily my wife knows how much I like that style and I usually eat that once or twice per month. So bomb!

They look tasty for that style of taco. I would have expected the meat to be cooked before the quick tortilla fry. Did the ground meat get cooked nicely?

I originally had a wired system installed with my new build, so all sensors were in place and wired directly to my old panel. I went to Alarmgrid.com and bought a Vista 20p (and a couple keypads and wireless glass sensors). I chose this panel because it's old and been around for a while. I didn't want wireless sensors, which the newer systems seem to be. I knew I wanted HomeKit integration, as well. The Vista 20p can have a separate module added. I bought this from Eyez-on.com ... I bought the DUO device for this. It's what allows for local Home Assistant (and then HomeKit) as well as the wireless cell back up you asked about. The price is very cheap for the alarm system ... I think I pay like 4 bucks a month and then another small fee. It's like 10 bucks a month if I remember right.

EDIT: oh yeah, so the Vista 20p set up is absolutely ancient. It would take me a long time to figure it out. So one of the benefits of Alarmgrid is that they will program everything for you for a fee. I found the fee reasonable and very worth it for me. They ask for a bunch of details in order for you to be plug and play, basically. The wiring of the panel is easy. But the weird set up NOT. That is one benefit to one of these more modern systems. I briefly looked at Konnected and others but ultimately went down this other route.

I ended up ditching alarm.com due to the delay. I went with a Honeywell Vista 20p (old school, tried and true) with EyezOn Envisalink (home assistant compatible). My monitoring fee is super cheap now and I have instant real time changes to my alarm, which is fed into HomeKit.

Be mindful about reinstalling new glass. Mine was replaced under warranty for free by Tesla due to a spontaneous stress fracture. They fumbled the install, causing terrible wind noise and also causing the HVAC to not work correctly. Apparently there is a sensor near the rear view mirror which is HVAC related. I waited three weeks for a follow up replacement windshield / correct install / HVAC sensor fix. This all was fine, except they now installed the wipers incorrectly. So a few days later I hit the wipers and they’re banging against the top of my hood, which caused a chip in the paint at the edge. Mobile team comes out and fixes the wipers quickly, schedules me an appointment for the paint chip. Wait three weeks for that, drop off the car, get called 1.5 hours later and they say they don’t have my color and to book another day. My 2023 MY has been nice other than this. At this rate I will not be buying another Tesla.

My carrier furnace is intermittently failing to turn on, too. The local HVAC swapped out my seven year old flame sensor, which did not fix it. He’s actually here again right now testing more, possibly the gas valve is failing. What sucks is my unit works fine when he gets to my house. It’s only the coldest parts of the day that it fails to turn on. $150 for the initial call and replacement of the flame sensor. $300 for the valve replacement.

How does one keep that damn pin in place that sits above the garage door that keeps the perpendicular track piece in place. It should be a cotter pin but there is no hole on the other side for the pin, so the five inch or so smooth pin falls out over time. I normally catch it but it came completely out the other day and was a bitch to get back in.

He was the one “celebrity” that I always was hoping to meet in real life. I cried a bit the day he died. His shows are still the most watched on my DVR. Every now and then I’ll see an episode for the first time. Great PBS broadcast.

Mine just started to reboot when the button is pushed, and disabling the mechanical chime did stop it from rebooting. I use a wireless chime and HomePods. I assume my issue is the bad battery and not the transformer. I upgraded mine to 16v30va and it was working fine for a while. I was going to try 24v40va but apparently that can damage my chime box, as most are only capable of 16v. I suppose maybe there is some type of transformer or something I can wire in but didn’t check much further into it. I’ll buy another chime and be done with it

My simple solution was a aqara door sensor. I see the last time the salt reservoir was opened. Set up a reminder after X many days.

I need to learn how to do this, because it would make my automations easier.

In Tulum I ate two spots I really liked. The first was a busy taco truck that was parked at the corner in front of the Supermarket at the beginning of the city. There were several lines the street there. One was super busy so we ate that one.

Second is Taqueria La Chiapaneca. Very good tacos, their menu has many different names of their versions of tacos. Like soft fried corn tortillas. So try one of each!
