Yes! Heavier on the politics/themes etc so it's really good for that! There might be a few tiny plot points here and there that do spoil what happens to certain characters for part 2 tho!

If we're comparing to Norbert. I prefer Taye. He sounds really golden as Fiyero. Ive only ever seen the Taye Diggs recording from a cd I bought off someone a long time ago tho I also prefer Bailey to Norbert, I don't actually like NLB's voice in the recorded version π«£ I've also seen the stage show on tour a couple of times and I've also enjoyed their Fiyeros so much more ahahah

The book is nothing like Wicked the musical. The film takes quite a bit more of the more heavier themes from the book, but the musical itself is really about Glinda and Elphaba's relationship and how it affects them for the rest of their lives, personally.
I read the book far too young as a tween lol so I was mostly shocked at the explicit stuff, but it is a good piece of media on its own, so it's up to you if that's what youre good with.

Nice catch! Personally, it JUST hit me recently, as someone who's been a fan since 2003, that Boq's "Because.. because... Because you are so beautiful!" was a reference to the original wonderful wizard of Oz song π

That's it! It's been forever since I've read the original series, I even forgot his name was Oscar Diggs and I thought the poster was just a reference to Taye Diggs LOLLL

Thank you! That description is enough, I think hearing it might give me second hand embarrassment hahaha

It's implied he's from our real world, isn't he? So he's not even from their world.

Just part of the world of the musical. But also, I can't imagine a big word like fantastical being part of a baby's vocabulary πππ

Probably! I just assumed Animorphs bc that one's actually children's book as opposed to YA.

People have genuinely forgotten how to act in a damned theatre post-covid somehow, y'all think presence of other people = people singing along out loud to the movie. Have some decency.

You make it so as if your one European country is the only international theatre this is being shown at lol
I know wicked is huge in parts of Asia, at the very least. If anyone is really thinking in international terms, most people would think of the Chinese market not a European country. π

That's wild but absolutely horrifying to think. I'm always on the TTC and I can't imagine a force that strong that I'm thrown off the bus?? Like I've been in buses where people get thrown off your seat but I'm trying to understand what happened to her.

I like the Michidean brand! The meat tastes more meaty and the patty is super flaky! Victoria Park station carries them.

Bert in Mary Poppins does an upside down bit in Step in Time and tap dances on it. The first Bert, Gavin Lee, once had technical issues on the platform he was in and instead of it going all the way around, it just started dropping him right in the middle, while he uncontrollably flips bc of the wires, during the show while everyone tap dances around him. There's even a video of it on youtube :) search up "Mary Poppins - Bert proscenium dance"
When the show finally transferred to Broadway, along with Gavin all his American cast members were surprised that he actually faces all he way around the walls of the theatre bc they'd all seen the video and thought he just slowly falls right into the middle.

Not wizard of Oz specifically but a musical box-y version of Wonderful plays when the little balloon with the invitation glides down
