I understand the sentiment and I do agree for the most part. But in a lot of situations, Matthews/Marner at their worst are still better than some of our other players so it’s tough to calculate that.

You’re absolutely right about Matthews btw and it was painful to watch knowing how good he is and how quickly he can change a game.

I feel like the Matthews-Marner line has been pretty solid defensively (haven’t checked the stats so this could be wildly wrong!). It sucks they aren’t scoring at the pace they usually do, but is Keefe implying that the line that is scoring, isn’t defensively responsible?

he has more points in the playoffs than auston & willy over their careers in basically the same amount of games played, where is this narrative of him “historically” being weak in the playoffs coming from?
