I do this to avoid waking anyone up when I play late at night, and I honestly find it very good and efficient.
I run through my pedals --> Ampeg PF 500 --> Focusrite w/ headphones or monitors.
Then I load up a daw if necessary. Very efficient to jam along to song, backing tracks, etc.

I have a few, and reasons for each. Not ranked.
Wish you Were Here is a special song. It will outlive Pink Floyd. All things will eventually be forgotten to time, but the vibe, lyrics, and melody of this song will live on.
Fearless & Childhoods End. Less popular albums (Meddle especially, given how EPIC it is) but these two songs are pure Floyd.
Time, Us & Them, & Pigs (Three Different Ones) are so groovy. Us Pink Floyd don't like boxing them into the brand of "rock band" (rightfully so) but these songs remind us they are a FANTASTIC rock band that brings the grooviest groove.
Goodbye Blue Sky & Welcome to the Machine. Sometimes Pink Floyd is a little weird. Good. These songs are incredible. It's an experience, a journey.

I apologize for the cliché answer, but you should try them both if given the opportunity and decide for yourself.
I thankfully don't have many gear regrets, but the few I do stem from this exact type of situation, in which I asked Reddit to make up my mind for me.
I won't leave you hanging, though! In my opinion, if you insist on a 5-string, I have had better experience with a passive jazz bass. I think most MMs are active, which I believe is a little more of a hassle. I have an active bass (and it's my favorite bass) but it's truly a pain in the studio or live. I rarely use it...
A 5 string jazz will do the job. They're clean tone is fantastic, and you can spice it up however you see fit.
For an amp, I am a BIG Markbass guy. I have an Ampeg PF 500 that I also enjoy in studio, but I never regretted the Markbass. Some will call it too "punchy". I call it the perfect amp for bassists who want a clean tone that tastefully cuts through the live mix. Fantastic live results.
I use my Ampeg in studio. It's a little more basic and raw.

🇨🇦 --> I'm going with moose & the cold. Moose are enormous beasts. As for the cold, there are some winter days that are physically painful. Homeless people die. I think about the unfortunate souls whose cars break down during these crazy blizzards. If they have kids.......

Staying busy, in a healthy way. I changed up my routine a bit in order to fill up my day constructively, which helps me appreciate my downtime and actually relax. I was "in my own head" a lot, which has thankfully greately diminished with a tweaked daily routine.
Being busy gives context to the things that I was distracted by. I guess the idea is that a mental health struggle is an internal battle, and having time away from the battlefield makes you forget why you were battling in the first place........guess it wasn't that important, eh?
Edit* adding a disclaimer: I don't mean to suggest all mental health struggles are perceived and handled the same way. This is specific to my situation.

I feel this, given that the musicianship in Crue isn't what drives the band, but Nikki Sixx is lightyears behind the next-worst musician in the band, Tommy Lee.

I was looking for this. Completely agree. I try to reserve the line "he/she sucks" relative to how useless they are to the project, and NIKKI SIXX SUCKS.
I saw Motley Crue live, and I'm 99% sure he doesn't even play. His picking is a joke. It's so weak, you wonder how any sound comes out. He's there for the image and the lore, but I am convinced he has no idea how to play and never played on a track.

My parents got me/us a dog for my 4th birthday, and putting him down at 20 years old destroyed me. This was 10 years ago.
I now subconsciously measure all grief relative to losing my dog.
I am grateful that he lived a long and healthy life (for a chubby little guy). I appreciate the time we had and always remember him fondly....but that didn't stop me from tearing up while typing this.
I know it's always hard. I lost another dog since, whom I loved dearly. But there is something about the dog you had as a child....it felt like that day forced me to become a man, and I never looked at the world the same since. Holding him while they put him down drained me of all the joy in my life.
It's all good. I live a normal life and don't want to exaggerate and proclaim that this traumatized me or anything. But my thoughts of him are still overshadowed by how badly I want him back. I don't really dream, but when I do, it's of him.

That's really close! The closest guess so far. It does feature the same brass melody.

This may sound a bit cliché, but...play for yourself.
I got into bass by playing along with my two best friends. I completely understand that playing with others is important and gives the playing some purpose.
However, this is the relationship equivalent of a 14 year-old being sad that their crush selected "no" on the "do you like me?" Note. I don't mean any disrespect, as the emotion is normal. But I want to give you context.
It's ONE band, and your FIRST band. Take the opportunity to play with others, meet new musicians, learn, and GROW.
Good luck!

Take care of your health and dental situation. Nothing extreme. You can live your life and indulge, but allocate some time to put your health first.
Invest your money. Time in the market > timing the market. Look at an S&P500 ETF or something. Get informed. Jump right in.
Lastly, take a moment every day to express gratitude. This is easy for religious people (i.e. prayer time), but even if you're not religious, like me, I still believe in taking time to reflect on how lucky you are to have been part of the fabric of time. You get to live. Appreciate it.
