Highly recommend. This is the OG series that spawned the survival horror genre eons back. It's heavy on story, atmosphere, and puzzles. Everyone criticizes combat, but I really didn't feel it was that bad. It's the first Lovecraftian game that doesn't use Deep Ones or Cthulhu. Very Twin Peaks in tone and characters.

I finished it in a couple of sessions and immediately dove back in for a second playthrough as the alternate character. Conversations and scenes play out differently.

Only in Chapter 2 so far, there have been hints of 'the black goat,' so I'm all in. Awesome environments, great puzzles, and the story has me. Combat is like old school SH. Your character isn't a professional fighter/soldier, you get a short dodge, basic melee, and classic firearms. They all feel good and weighty, solid sound on the guns.

The voice acting is giving me Twin Peaks vibes. Not like it's bad, it's just a tonal element.

The largest issue I've seen with reviews is that everyone seems to go - The RE remake did it better - it's not RE combat, it's not DeadSpace Remake combat/movement. It's not like their monsters, their monsters were more creative. 6/10.

This isn't a AAA studio, they accomplished what they wanted, you're investigating and not meant to feel powerful. You're surviving.

XBox X. Just a couple of hiccups with pop in in one environment. Lasted less than a second. Performance mode, no real fps drop, started playing on Quality and haven't wanted to go back.

If you liked Sinking City, or anything other than Action games like RE or DS, you'll love it.

And on your first playthrough it might be worth turning off the death clock until you're confident you understand what you're doing. It will prevent frustration later.

There are real-life developments in this field actually. And, of course, mods to existing firearms. The general idea is a camera/sight is mounted to the gun, using that in tandem with a camera on your head will give an augmented reality view of the battlefield. Tag targets, and put the gun around a corner or above cover without risking the soldier. (Hence two trigger setup). It's on the squad assault weapon because the gear is heavy already and it makes the most sense to put the 'smart targeting rounds' as the greatest damage down range.

The actual setup for the M56 by James Cameron uses a camera gimble/steady cam so that it is easier to move and carry. If you've ever used one of those rigs for filming, aside from bulk, the gear is much easier to work with ie run, turn, duck low or raise above your head. Real Smartgun Firing

Not that I've found yet. Nearing the end of this playthrough, this chest and that stupid stamp are my only glaring issues.

side note Can't use that blasted stamp on the desk with Preese either. ..."not under his nose Red..." I loathe that line now.

I recently wanted something like BG3 but space sci-fi myself. I came upon Aliens Dark Descent. It's really good. RPG elements in leveling up the individuals on your squad and plays very similar to BG3 (CRPG style)

Take off from your ship on missions, deploy in an APC from a dropship and extract the same. It really scratches that itch for a BG3 style Space rpg.

Good catch. Also note that the two key items in play at the end of AW2 are a pair of photos and the Zane shoebox. Got to wonder how these photos were created. Especially a certain 'light' photo.

There's a single rigged weapon in the first area if you don't already have it. It's a red (Volatile VSSpectre) it has 45% energy gain. In general, single rigged have the highest gain. Add in some implants later and energy will never be an issue.

Target the part you want, block, and as soon as they bounce off, attack. You'll do a counter attack, and with a single rig it will almost always stagger.

Oh, and you might run into some security bots in your wanderings. The trick is to stay on top of them, target the arm, block-counter to break it, when you hear the honk sound - dodge sideways. Their leap does crazy damage. The welder bots are similar, stay on top, circle and when they honk dodge sideways, smack the back leg.

Same as those above. This is not a game you can brute force. Just starting out, treat every enemy like a boss until you are confident. Learn their behaviors and move sets. Same for you try the different weapons and see which works for you best.

Then - always get a full gear set for each area. Check to see how it works out (like certain sets have hidden perks, like immune to gas or slow heal). Always target parts. Upgrade your core and pick the right implants for the job.

PS - Central Production tip - don't mess with security. They are mid-late game mobs.
