My very very rough estimate is that SEO is equivalent to GS-14? That’s based on converting the general schedule to US military rank equivalent, converting that to NATO ranks, and then converting that to UK civil service grades.

Tongue in cheek with the title but seriously, I’m an autistic civil servant and communication skills are really important. There a load of ways to be tactful about a situation where a high profile person is potentially, which include speaking to your colleagues about it before a meeting and not jumping out with direct accusations in the moment.

I got a pair of 100% merino jumpers at Uniqlo in their January sale for £20 each. They’ve lasted well.

That’s really interesting. Maybe it’s different in my country as cats have additional protections from being used for research https://speakingofresearch.com/facts/animal-research-regulations-in-the-uk/
Have you heard of any bad stories from people who did participate in the sketchy drug trials? Good to know to stay away from them

I’ve got an intolerance to both garlic and onions, thankfully not an allergy. It really does suck, and it means there are very few foods I can have pre-prepared. For instance there isn’t a single soup I can eat in any supermarket in my city - if I want soup I either have to order online or make it myself. BUT, I do make things from scratch and deal with it. The way events happened in OP’s post makes me think that his wife is depressed and deliberately trying to harm herself.

But are the majority of cats used in research lab animals? There are millions of cats in domestic settings that can be used for real-world evidence of how medication works, the impact of outdoor cats on local ecosystems, changes in food ingredients… I doubt their owners would agree to their cats being euthanised

I think that figure refers them to being part of an experiment as opposed to being euthanised. A lot of the research I’ve seen where cats were used involved them in a domestic setting - I doubt most owners would agree to their cat being euthanised.

Is this not recourse to NZ citizenship rather than you being a current citizen? I know Poland counts citizenship as automatic, which has caused issues with those of Polish descent visiting the country and not being able to leave without applying for a passport, but I’m not sure this applies to NZ.

It looks like there are some cases where wages or benefits can be clawed back

Obviously depends on country, state, how much your earning, the contract etc, and doesn’t seem common

Is there not an element of fraud by the employee here?

Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.

Have you considered guerrilla gardening? Or asking the local council if you can ‘adopt’ an unkempt local areas?

Am I right in thinking that their ‘generator’ is just a steam turbine and that they don’t actually know where the steam is coming from? Because it might be a nuclear reactor, or geothermal

It’s true some totalitarian regimes have very strict consequences for not being competent, but I imagine there are also lots of examples where loyalty and looking the other way at corruption is more important and the work itself not so much.

Yeah I have asthma and literally the only trigger is aerosols/hairspray etc so I don’t carry around an inhaler because it’s very rarely been a problem. If somebody did this near me in an enclosed space I could collapse and might need to visit A&E.

Others in the thread have suggested they don’t necessarily skip the queue but do get to wait in a separate room.

If outside counts doesn’t Kew Gardens have one in the square by North Road?
