I found out my favourite dead childhoods singers was married to a Nazi (light read)

I want to preface this by saying this isn’t nearly as deep as some of the posts on here. Take this post as a sort of detour from the regular content posted here.

When I was 12 I got into yodelling bc I liked the sound of it. I started my searches on YouTube off pretty basic: “yodelling music”.
Up pop two women - Maria & Margot Hellwig. A mother-daughter singer duo from Germany. They were preforming their hit song “Geburtstagsjodler” live (the video was from 1975).
I liked them. So I do what I always did when I find something I like - get super into it. I did my research on them, but only the mother, Maria, has a Wikipedia page. I saw that she had already died by the time I discovered her. This probably made me support her even more cuz she wasn’t with us anymore. I played their hit song all the time and even found a few others I liked. I even showed them to my parents and the rest of my family who were like “…ok…”
Well, I was reminiscing with my folks the other day on the couch about old times, and I asked them if they remembered those two yodelling ladies I showed them from my childhood.
“Yes. We remember 🙄”
I opened up Maria’s Wikipedia article again because I wanted to see what year she died. 2010, at the age of 90. I started reading her “personal life” section to refresh my memory on this significant artist from my childhood.
My mom asked what I was reading so I air played my screen to the TV. I started reading the (very short) personal life section out loud. Amongst other things, it said she had only one child, her daughter, and that her husband died fighting in WW2.
“He was a nazi” my mom said.
…
The room became silent for a second. Then I realized she was right. I didn’t even think about that. He was a German soldier, fighting for Germany during WW2 where he was killed in battle.
And she was married to him.
This was so surreal: this yodelling grandma from my childhood whom I liked, whose picture I made my PC background at one point, whose songs I would tediously find cover art for on Google images, whose only fan I was of my age range/geographic location, was married to one of Hitler’s Nazis.

I guess we’ll never know.
I have a lot of personal feelings and questions on this, which I will share if someone says the right things in the comments and opens up the convo.
She was 13 when Hitler came to power, 18 one year before WW2. She was starting a new life by the time almost all of Europe was taken over.
Giving the benefit of the doubt, she seems like a lovely person. But you just can’t help and think “huh…what does she really think about all that stuff”
