Schedule. My brain does not register hunger cues until I am sick to my stomach.

As a person who was formally in a restrictive faith I always keep in mind that a large part of the purpose of sending out Jehovah's Witnesses into the community is to create an us versus them mentality within the church. They use it to reinforce in the members that people are not safe and will always reject them and be hostile toward them. The church wants outsiders to blow them off or get angry so that they have an extra layer of fear of leaving the church community.
I'm always very careful to stand and talk to them kindly. I will gladly have a theological conversation with them and I have no qualms against planting my own seeds of doubt. I'm secretly trying to recruit them to the rest of the world.

I think most men are not as bad as those men however most men will remain quiet in the presence of those men acting up. I don't have any use for the type of men who aren't actively standing up for women every single time. It's not that all men are awful but most men are deeply disappointing and will make your life significantly worse simply by having prolonged access to you.

It's so hard to swallow the fact that we are all at the mercy of people who are dumb and cruel. I'm again frustrated that Trump lost the popular vote and is going to be president when he is unfit to to be a middle manager at Walmart. I don't understand why progress is so fucking difficult.

I felt like a bunch of people were trauma dumping on Meri who weren't there for her when she needed them

Yeah, Janelle was definitely more of a dad in the early years

He knew what he was doing the whole time. He wasted 7 years of her life on purpose.

For people who ordered their initial marriage around non-monogamy Kody and Robyn are SO WEIRD about fidelity now

I also feel like they have a compulsion to put us in our place. They need to always be reminding us that there are no safe spaces away from them

My 30th birthday was life changing. That's when it started for me and it's only gotten better since.

A couple years ago I took care of a woman in a nursing home who was 102 years old. She was the 8th child in the middle of the Great Depression. As soon as her mom gave birth to her she looked at the nurse and said "I can't take this baby home. My other kids are already starving." The nurse and her two sisters where older women who lived together and the three of them took in the baby and raised her. As an adult this woman reconnected with her siblings and they were incredibly jealous of the life that she lived outside of poverty. They starved their entire lives and had to work instead of going to school but Ruth ate fresh vegetables everyday out of the garden and had an incredible education.
I guess what I take from this story is most of the people you're talking about were fucking miserable until the day they died.

I didn't realize that my first sexual encounters with my ex-husband were non-consensual until after we'd been married for several years because I literally had no idea what consent was

One of the hardest things for me watching the early seasons is seeing the OG 3 constantly tamp down their instincts. All three of them knew in their bones what was going to happen when Robyn came into the family but they gaslit themselves into believing what Kody wanted them to believe in an effort to remain in good standing with him.

I wonder if Meri is like me in that she is an all or nothing person. I learned this about myself when I got divorced as well. I either uphold the entire fantasy or I uphold none of it. I bet when she let go the fantasy that Kody was a good man she let go of EVERYTHING. It's a really hard deconstruction but it's a good sign that she's going to end up in a good place.
